This is a sub-page of Proto:Spyro: Shadow Legacy.
Main Area
- The lava flow graphics are severely broken.
- Sometimes, the Lizard texture takes over the graphics, making it look even wilder.
- The key at the beginning has been moved over a smidgeon, and there's a phase pad nearby.
Prototype | Final |
---|---|
- All of the shadow realm enemies shown shortly after you enter are facing the wrong way.
- The boulder near Dirt is absent.
Prototype | Final |
---|---|
- Just a little to the right where Gronk can be rescued, all of the bones can be found. Like many other items in the prototype, they are not spread out just yet, likely to make it easier for testing.
Prototype | Final |
---|---|
- The hanging platforms are closer in the prototype.
Prototype | Final |
---|---|
- At the top of the level, there's nothing blocking access from the bone bridge. Although the entry text appears, pressing X won't actually do anything.
Prototype | Final |
---|---|
- Nearby, the lizard is on the path leading up to the bridge, rather than below it in the final. There's also a sheep here which is absent in the final. Finally, the treasure chest is a vase.
Prototype | Final |
---|---|
- Ooga doesn't speak until after you save him.
- Minor text change - "Gronk confused" becomes "Dirt confused" in the final.
- There's a rather strangely placed phase pad near the iron chest containing the Booga-Booga Mask. You can't even see it. Needless to say, the final moved it. Note that the iron chest is still present when you first enter this area.
Prototype | Final |
---|---|
- There's a Tailwhack here in the shadow realm. In the final, there's a Knight.
Prototype | Final |
---|---|
- The sheep on the mini bone platform is removed in the final.
- The moth on the next platform (where you rescue Ooga) is missing in the final.
Prototype | Final |
---|---|
- Minor glitch on this platform. Spyro can move through the top of it.
- Tomas does not inform you of how many more people need to be rescued.
- The barrier sealing off the "Zoo of Death" has one less pole.
Prototype | Final |
---|---|
- The cutscene has Spyro falling down, rather than him just appearing. Like most cutscenes, he can walk around for a short while. Before Lumpy is taken to the "Zoo of Death", Gronk will ask Spyro to find the Booga-Booga Mask, which is usually requested after. Regardless of what Spyro answers with, the rest of the cutscene continues. If Spyro refused to get the mask, he will be asked again.
- When saving Lumpy, Spyro cannot be moved like in the final.
- You can glide over to Ooga, but despite being prompted, he won't speak. In the final, he can speak, but only if Spyro moves during the accompanying cutscene.
- Even after returning the mask to Gronk, he will still tell Spyro to find the mask whenever he phases back into the real world from the shadow realm in Skelos Badlands. He'll request it three times exactly.
- Lumpy doesn't hand over the amulet. Which is okay, because Spyro receives it earlier.
- A rather interesting glitch (or maybe even a debug option?) can be found here. After Lumpy is freed, hand over the bones to Dirt. After speaking with Spyro, Gronk's name will appear underneath, and he will give you the lowdown on the professor, as he usually does, only with garbled text. After this, Spyro is rewarded with 400xp and a dragon egg as usual. If you speak to him again, he'll repeat the text (now displayed properly) and award you another 400xp and another dragon egg. Repeat until you have the desired amount of xp and eggs! And yes, the eggs count towards Kaitlin's side quest.
Boss Entrance
- The Professor has different text at the end. It was softened for the final release.
Prototype | Final |
---|---|
I have a theory that if you go inside and, er, beat him down, I'll be free! | I have a theory that if you go inside and, er, dispense with him, I'll be free! |
- The blimp appears at the very top, and glitches through the platform. The camera also doesn't shift up as much as it does in the final.
Prototype | Final |
---|---|
- After breaking the rock, the sound doesn't play as it normally does.
- In the cave, the shadow realm monsters are out in the real world, along with the chest which should only show up after they've been defeated.
- When exiting this area, Spyro appears inside the rock.
- When placing the amulets in the door, the graphic overlaps with the original graphic.

Fire Minion
- Like the previous boss, the Fire Minion's name does not show up.
Prototype | Final |
---|---|
- Also like the previous boss, the camera angle is wrong.
- When nearing the platforms just outside the main arena, the camera does not focus in on them.
- In fact, the camera barely follows Spyro when he glides over to them.
- The phase pads don't work, making it impossible to defeat him without hacking.
- Losing to the boss places you outside the Professor's platform, instead of just in front of the door.
