Attract demo/sync issues

I'm currently working on the Cx4 emulation in bsnes-plus some more, and I don't think the issue with attract demos going out of sync in the proto is actually because of build differences, but rather emulation issues. One of the most common issues with the final version of the game is that almost all emulators currently go out of sync in the attract demo as well, causing the player to die during the Mechaniloid fight when the demo is actually supposed to end with X still alive and about to win. Here is a recording of the final version's demo from the actual console.

I've been trying to figure out possible accuracy improvements to my Cx4 emulation that will fix the demos in the proto as well, but I'm waiting for C. Davis to send me some footage of the proto running on the real hardware so I have something to compare to (unfortunately it won't be a direct video capture so probably unsuitable for the article until if/when I or someone else is able to get it running better in an emulator). --Devin (talk) 11:12, 30 July 2018 (EDT)

Well, I got the footage of the actual cart and, to my surprise, all of the attract demos go out of sync exactly the same way on the real thing, which is not at all what I was expecting based on the historically out-of-sync demo in the final game. I guess it's not emulation issues for those after all. --Devin (talk) 01:10, 5 August 2018 (EDT)
