Storyboards
GingerBread/Content/Movies/Storyboards contains early storyboards for nearly every cutscene in the game. These contain placeholder audio and numerous differences to the final cutscenes. Some of them even contain brief glimpses of game footage and screenshots, which appear to be based on much earlier versions of the game. These storyboard videos were completely removed from the Windows version.
The Soaring Summit
Video | Corresponding Level/Cutscene | Notes |
---|---|---|
"A Big Adventure" outro | Scarlet's voice is different, and the last second of the video shows off an early version of the Scoreboard area for A Big Adventure. | |
"Keys To Success" outro | Scarlet's voice alternates between two different actresses, one of whom appears to have been recorded in an echoy room. | |
"Have You Herd?" intro | Gerald's line delivery is different, and an early incarnation of Scootles are referred to as "Flockers". The last second of the video shows an early version of the level "Have You Herd?" | |
"Having A Blast" boss intro | Vex has a completely different voice. | |
"Having A Blast" outro |
The Colossal Canopy
Video | Corresponding Level/Cutscene | Notes |
---|---|---|
"Sticking With It" intro | ||
"Monkey Business" intro | Mama Monkey's voice is completely different, and the Grunty enemies seen in the first gameplay snippet have a different colour scheme. | |
Removed | A cutscene intended for the level "Going Bananas", where Mama Monkey warns Sackboy about the miniboss. There is no cutscene for this in the final version of the level. | |
"Centipedal Force" boss intro | The last second of the video shows an incomplete version of the Vexed Mamapede boss arena. | |
"Centipedal Force" outro | Scarlet has another different voice, and the Kingdom of Crablantis is referred to as Undertow. |
The Kingdom of Crablantis
Video | Corresponding Level/Cutscene | Notes |
---|---|---|
"Sink Or Swing" intro | King Bogoff's voice is different, and he calls the Clawstring a grappling hook, rather than a "swingamajig". The last second of the video reveals an early version of the level "Sink Or Swing" that features the removed square entrance door. | |
"Ferried Treasure" intro | King Bogoff's voice is, once again, different. The version of "Ferried Treasure" shown in the last second of the video appears to be an unfinished whitebox. | |
"The Deep End" boss intro | ||
"The Deep End" outro |
The Interstellar Junction
Video | Corresponding Level/Cutscene | Notes |
---|---|---|
"Boot Up Sequence" intro | The screenshot at the end of the video shows an early version of the level "Boot Up Sequence", again with the early level entrance. | |
"Nervous System" boss intro | The end of the cutscene shows what appears to be concept for the Vexed N.A.O.M.I boss fight. | |
"Nervous System" boss outro | ||
"Nervous System" level outro | When Vex shows Sackboy what's happening to Craftworld, clips from all the previous worlds are shown. In the final game, only the Colossal Canopy and Kingdom of Crablantis are shown. Additionally, Scarlet makes Sackboy a Knitted Knight at the end of this cutscene, but this wouldn't be done in the final until the end of the game. |
The Centre of Craftworld
Video | Corresponding Level/Cutscene | Notes |
---|---|---|
Removed | A cutscene intended for a boss fight in the level "Just A Phase". The level is a chase sequence rather than an arena fight like the end of the video suggests. | |
"Until Vex Time" boss intro | ||
"Until Vex Time" outro | The dialogue from Scarlet in the second half of the cutscene is different, with her saying that the Topsy Turver still needs to be shut down. In the final game, this cutscene is directed as a sort of anti-climax before the true final levels are revealed. | |
"Jumping To Conclusions" intro | ||
"Vexpiration Date" intro | ||
"Vexpiration Date" outro | One notable change in this storyboard concerns Vex's closing monologue. In the storyboard, his spirit speaks to Sackboy after the Topsy Turver is destroyed; in the final game Vex shouts it while he's dying. | |
Ending | The presentation of the cutscene is completely different, with Sackboy and the rest of the major characters partying inside the village of Loom, rather than on the outskirts like in the final game. | |
"The Wonderplane" intro | An early version of the title screen that uses the "LittleBigPlanet Next" logo can be seen in the background. |
Early Action Almanac Videos
GingerBread/Content/Movies/Almanac contains a handful of placeholder videos made for the Action Almanac, interestingly, the set of test videos appears to be dated November 1st, 2018.
Video | Notes |
---|---|
A video that appears to show off sliding. The level shown off is an early version of "Monkey Business", with a notable difference being that the Score Bubbles are all green. In the final game they're either white or, if a x2 multiplier is active, pink. | |
A video showing off the spin and slap moves. The Froogle enemy shown in the clip has a completely different appearance, and a x2 multiplier activates when it is defeated. | |
A video showing off the roll move. Sackboy appears to spin much faster when rolling than in the final game. | |
A video showing off the flutter move. | |
A video set in an early version of "Ready Yeti Go" that shows off the roll tunnels. | |
A video set in an early version of "A Cut Above The Rest" which shows off how to use the Whirltool, referred to in the filename as the "CraftCutter". |
