The first console version of Hideo Kojima's graphic adventure game Snatcher, as well as the first Konami game released on a CD-ROM, hence the idiosyncratic subtitle. This version added voice acting to key scenes in the game (most of the game is still text-only, though), but more importantly it was also the first version to feature Act 3, which served as a conclusion to the story after the early PC versions ended on a cliffhanger at Act 2.

Hmmm...
To do:
  • Figure out what CDPLAY-NO does at the Sound Test menu.

Sound Test

To access the Sound Test in the game, you'll need a Multitap and two controllers. At the Super CD-ROM² System's boot screen, hold Up on Controller 1 and Down on Controller 2 (the inverse will also work), then press Run to boot into the sound test.

Use the D-Pad to move the cursor up or down, and then press Left or Right to change the value of the index. The sound test works as follows.

Name Explanation
TABLE-NO Affects the voice data loaded in ADPLAY. 00 and 01 loads voice samples from Act 1, 02 and 03 loads voice samples from Act 2, and 04 and 05 loads samples from Act 3. To load the voice data press I on the controller. Value 06 and onward contains no voice data, and trying to load any of the higher value indexes will freeze the game.
PSG-NO Plays all sorts of music and occasional sound effects by pressing I. Pressing II will stop the audio.
ADLOAD-NO Plays voice samples starting at 16, with 1A featuring specific voice samples loaded from the index set at TABLE-NO.
ADPLAY-NO Takes the voice sample loaded ADLOAD and splits them to smaller portions.
CDPLAY-NO Plays the CD Audio. Only tracks 01 to 17 are valid entries however, anything further will either result in the game attempting to seek an invalid track or a crash. Additionally does not seem to work if PSG audio was played.
