Xbox App

This version is much more similar to the Xbox version than the other PC versions.

DRM

Unlike the other PC versions, this version of the game is not DRM-free, meaning that you cannot play it without launching through the Xbox App or Microsoft Store.

Updates

This version has not been updated past 1.10.2021.5.10.791, meaning that it doesn't have:

  • The secret ending.
  • Multiplayer.
  • The minor environmental and technical changes that have been made since.

The only exception to this is that the gameplay warning is displayed upon opening the game rather than when pressing new game, like post-2021.5.10 versions.

Physics

The physics are different to the other PC versions, likely a copy of the physics from Xbox. This is difficult to notice outside of glitches.

Scripting Backend

The IL2CPP scripting backend is used. The other PC versions from version 1.10.2020.11.4.1036 onwards use Mono instead.

Main Menu

The main menu is the same as the one on Xbox.

  • The user's profile is displayed in the top-left corner.
  • A loading icon shows when returning to the main menu with a "PRESS A TO START" prompt.

  • The secret ending.
  • Multiplayer.
  • The minor environmental and technical changes that have been made since.

The only exception to this is that, on Playstation 5, the gameplay warning is displayed upon opening the game rather than when pressing new game, like post-2021.5.10 versions.

Physics

The physics are different to the PC versions, and also seem to be slightly different between console generations. This is difficult to notice outside of glitches.

Trial and Pricing

The mobile versions of the game are available for free, but will then prompt you to pay after completing Induction. The price for getting access to the rest of the game is still less than on PC and console, at $5.99 instead of $19.99.

Opening

  • Upon opening the game for the first time, it will start downloading and processing additional content.
    • After the first time, it will only process this content.
    • After version 1.15, it will also be "Processing Pre-Download".
  • There are Noodlecake and Pillow Castle logos which display every time that the game is launched.

Collectable Rewards

On Android, the rewards for collecting all chess pieces, fire alarms and fire extinguishers are available from the start, despite the collectables themselves not actually being obtained. This is very likely to be a bug, since this means that you can skip straight from Optical to Whitespace on your first playthrough.

Workshop

The button to enter the Somnasculpt Workshop is completely removed from the extra modes menu.

On-Screen Controls

Hmmm...
To do:
Look into the extent of controller/kbm support on mobile.

These versions include on-screen controls, with support for other control styles having been removed. However, it seems to be possible to move with the arrow keys on a keyboard (which the game detects as a controller).

In-Game Tutorials

All of the in-game tutorial prompts from Induction have been removed in favour of a small on-screen tutorial when you enter the level for the first time. Interestingly, the prompts from Clone have not been removed.

Environmental Differences

Canisters

The canisters throughout the game all seem to be different colours compared to the other platforms.

Lighting Bugs

There are multiple lighting bugs throughout the game. This might differ depending on the device that you're playing on.

Broken Induction Geometry

In the cheese room, part of the floor from the next hallway sticks out through the wall.
