Superliminal/Version Differences

This is a sub-page of Superliminal.

This cactus is UNDER CONSTRUCTION
This article is a work in progress.
...Well, all the articles here are, in a way. But this one moreso, and the article may contain incomplete information and editor's notes.
Hmmm...
To do:
  • Investigate the game files to find some more obscure differences (like what's already been done for version 1.0.2019.11.12.1005), mainly for large updates such as 1.10.2020.7.6.877, 1.10.2020.11.4.1036 and 1.10.2021.11.5.550.43
  • Find the differences for updates with currently unknown changes
  • Determine what the entries marked with an asterisk are referring to
  • Document any other missing differences that are found

Note: In these sub-pages, the images/videos which are labelled as being captured on a version which is lost will have instead been captured on the most relevant accessible version (usually 1.05.2019.12.13.185 or 1.10.2020.7.6.877). There is a small chance that some of the changes listed as being made in version 1.10.2020.7.6.877 or the lost versions which came before it are attributed to the wrong version, but almost all changes have been checked with videos so this is unlikely.

Version 1.0.2019.11.11.963

Initial release.

Version 1.0.2019.11.12.1005

Hmmm...
To do:
  • \Superliminal_Data\il2cpp_data\Metadata\global-metadata.dat is 304 bytes bigger than the last version, check it sometime.
  • Don't know if the .dat files that get exported should be checked. Most seem to have a singular byte changed.
  • Models might be a bit hard since most of them look like re-exports.
  • General compatibility fixes for Windows 7
  • The folder Superliminal_BackUpThisFolder_ButDontShipItWithYourGame was deleted
  • playtimeData.txt

In the root folder of the game, there is a text file called playtimeData.txt that tracks playtime and does have initial starting data that is different from the version before.

Levels/Save Warning Avertissement: La sélection d'un niveau écrasera votre progression actuelle. Avertissement: La sélection d'un niveau effacera votre progression actuelle. French translation line. The word "écrasera" was changed to "effacera", both share the same meaning but "effacera" is more direct.
Options/[Option] Off De Non French translation error. "De" can be translated as "Off" and can be used in French to say that an object is not/no longer on something (e.g. fell off - tombé de), not to say that the option is disabled, so this line was mistranslated. The word has been replaced by "Non", which can be translated as "No", which is more correct.
    Via No Italian translation error.
Apagado No Spanish translation error. Changed to "No" be consistent with [Option] On's "Sí".

Options/[Option] On Sur Oui French translation error. "Sur" can be translated as "On" and is used in French to say that an object is on another, not to say that the option is enabled, so this line was mistranslated. The word has been replaced by "Oui", which can be translated as "Yes", which is more correct.

    Twitter patch notes

    • Clone: Added a limit to how many times an object can be cloned

    • Made portals less "sensitive":
      • This fixes most portal glitches, where the player could become extremely large and get outside the world
      • This introduces most portal slides, where the player can get outside the world by repeatedly entering and re-entering a portal
    • Barriers have been made more effective, though objects can still be pushed through them
