Notes of Name Terminology
Because there are fifty billion versions of this game, I tried to be consistent with naming things:
- Final Fantasy II SNES translation above all others, as this is primarily a SNES article and that's likely to be the translation people are most familiar with.
- Final Fantasy IV PlayStation translation second, for things that have no official translation in FF2 due to being dummied, or significant name changes (like Crystal Sword to Ragnarok).
- Translations of names used in Easy Type when different from the original Japanese version. There's some overlap with FF2 here occasionally, like the Heroine Dress.
- Translations of Japanese Final Fantasy IV terminology when significantly inconsistent with either official translation. Additionally, these should be used to fill in abbreviations and item types (<helmet>Glass to Glass Mask, not Glass Helmet, for example).
Other translations don't matter since this is an article about the SNES/PSX version. The more translations listed, the more cluttered the article gets, so I'd like to try and keep them to a minimum. --Dragonsbrethren (talk) 19:58, 10 September 2013 (EDT)
