Actual content?

Is there any actual evidence of PMDDX assets being left over in this game, or is that still just an assumption based on it being a recent Spike Chunsoft game? Tons of games use Unity, so that really isn't enough to point towards the existence of leftover assets on its own. (If there isn't, this page probably shouldn't exist yet, since documenting regional differences should wait until the game is actually out in more than one region and there's no meaningful content on the prerelease subpage atm. TCRF isn't a race, you shouldn't rush to make an undercooked page for a game just because it's new and hyped...) --Zyxyz (talk) 16:53, 30 January 2024 (UTC)

I'll datamine the game soon, but if I am aware lots of games tend to recycle engines to save development time. Just look at The Sims console games as an example, they reused the same engine from the first Sims console game up to The Sims 3 Wii version, leftover content from the previous games can be found there. On to Shiren, a lot of the overhead emotes graphics you see in cutscenes (one of them being the cheering one), looks exactly the same as the one in Rescue Team DX, also most of the sounds from the game are reused here, some of them being slightly modified. There's probably more I need to check once I start datamining the game, but hopefully I can provide content for the page. BlastoiseTCRF (talk) 18:18, 30 January 2024 (UTC)
Sorry to intrude but I'm with Zyxyz on this one: you really don't need to make a TCRF page if there isn't anything worth documenting, sometimes games brand-new or old don't have anything of note under the hood, and that's OK. Like you said you haven't even started the datamining yet, so as a general rule of thumb, please refrain from putting up a hypothesis if you haven't made any findings to back up those claims. --DeepWeeb (talk) 16:09, 2 February 2024 (UTC)
Sorry about that, I will try to datamine the game today in the afternoon, also I will datamine the international release when it comes out, if it has unique content that the Japanese version doesn't have. BlastoiseTCRF (talk) 16:22, 2 February 2024 (UTC)
Update, the game uses Unity version 2022.3.0f1 which doesn't support AssetStudio, I need to find a program that supports later Unity games. BlastoiseTCRF (talk) 01:50, 3 February 2024 (UTC)
Update 2: I managed to get a modified AssetStudio build, and none of the .bundle files will open with it, they definitely encrypted the files for the Japanese version, I don't know if the United States version will have file encryption, but for now, the game is very hard to document. BlastoiseTCRF (talk) 02:40, 3 February 2024 (UTC)
Tough luck, I doubt that's going to be different come the US version. Only hope would be if they release the game on Steam later on (most likely) and maybe the files won't be encrypted (or maybe they still will, who knows). But I imagine that by then they would have ensured to scrub any possible evidence that there was any PMD-related material in the files because that would be a big no-no for TPC. --DeepWeeb (talk) 02:04, 5 February 2024 (UTC)
Update 3: The United States version's files are also encrypted... BlastoiseTCRF (talk) 21:09, 27 February 2024 (UTC)
Hey, since the game is now out on PC and it's been almost a whole year, don't you think it's time to retire the "Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Rescue Team DX leftovers" claim? At this point it really feels unsubstantiated to say the least. --DeepWeeb (talk) 21:26, 11 December 2024 (UTC)

File decryption

There's a quickbms script provided by a user in the UnityPk Discord server, it will be useful to decrypt the files needed for documentation BlastoiseTCRF (talk) 13:43, 29 February 2024 (UTC)
