The Legend of Zelda Prototype

Developer: Nintendo
Publisher: Nintendo
Released: Unknown (disk image dumped in 2010), Famicom Disk System

A The Legend of Zelda Prototype was dumped and released on December 25th, 2010. It's a late build of the game: the game can be completed, but the Second Quest has just barely been started. Nevertheless, there are a great amount of room alterations, both on the overworld and in the nine dungeons. Some of the game's iconic enemies have different designs, shops have different items in stock, and a significant amount of music hasn't been composed yet. Overall, the prototype is a lot more forgiving than the final version: it's much easier to get rupees, and enemy placement and difficulty isn't quite as evil. It's worth checking out for anyone interested in learning about the game's development.
