This is a sub-page of The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind.

Hmmm...
To do:
  • There may still be others lurking in the CS I don't know about. Need to look.
  • Get screenshots.

Note: All of these items can either only be found in Test levels (in the case of Clutterbane) or by using the console. The console command for adding an item to one's inventory is player-> additem "item ID" *quantity* (Quantity being the number one wants to add to their inventory) For example, say one wants the fake version of Sunder. The code would be player-> additem "sunder_fake" 1. All ID's are not case sensitive

It should be noted that for items with only one word in their ID or separated by an underscore, that adding quotation marks is optional. However, items that have spaces in their names without an underscore will need to be put in quotes. The player can also put items in NPC inventories. The code is the same except the player-> line is not needed and one must click on the chosen NPC.

Weapons

  • Clutterbane: A weird joke weapon wielded by Lord Cluttermonkey in the Clutter Warehouse test map. Casts Burden, Absorb Luck, Demoralize Humanoid, Rally Humanoid, Absorb Speechcraft and Damage Personality on strike, but has 0 charges so it actually does nothing. With god mode on however, the effects can be triggered due to enchanted weapons receiving unlimited charge. Keep in mind this TECHNICALLY isn't unused as it is on an NPC that's in the game, but since it's in a test level, players won't encounter this weapon in the normal game.
  • *Sunder*: Two fake versions of Sunder exist. Apparently there was going to be a fake version or two fake versions of Sunder. One version looks like a Dwarven Warhammer. The other one looks like regular Sunder but without the enchantment. Dagoth Ur has a voice-over in the files associated with the fake Sunder. The only way to obtain these two frauds is to use the additem console command. The console command for the Dwarven Warhammer fake is "false_sunder" and the fake replica of Sunder's ID is "sunder_fake".
  • Wings of the Queen of Bats: A unique Battle Axe not found anywhere in the game but listed in the Construction Set. The blades of the axe are shaped like a bat, hence the name. It's unknown what it would have been used for but judging by the unique appearance, it was most likely one of the various enchanted artifacts that would be found throughout the game. The enchantment it has is not unique however. In fact it is shared with three other weapons that are used. (namely, Battle Axe of Wounds) It uses the wound_en enchantment which drains health 1-10 points for 30 seconds. Its chop attack does 1-44 damage, slash does 1-33, and thrust does 1-4. It has a weight of 30.00, and a value of 12000. The ID for it in the console is axe_queen_of_bats_unique.
  • Azura's Star: Not to be confused with the Soulgem of the same name, this weapon is unused. It uses the same model as the Azura's Star soulgem so it's quite possible it may have originally been a weapon rather than a reusable soulgem. The ID for this weapon version of Azura's Star is azura_star_unique.
  • Dart of Judgement: Another item that shares a name with an existing item. Unlike the Darts of Judgement you get in the final game, which are Daedric Darts without any enchantments, this is a special Iron Arrow with a unique enchantment. It uses the enchantment dart_of_judgement_en. The enchantment seems to not be finished as it has rather weird effects and durations. Poison duplicated 4 times, each for 1-11 points of damage for 10 seconds on self when strikes and paralyze for 1 second duplicated 4 times on strike. The effect actually targets the player rather than the target the arrows are shot at. The Darts of Judgement are associated with a Thieves Guild quest that Aengoth the Jeweler gives. In the in-game text, he refers to the darts as arrows despite the finalized version actually being darts. It's possible the Arrow version of Dart of Judgement was originally intended to be used and it was changed but the text wasn't updated to reflect it. The ID for this unused arrow version is iron_arrow_uniq_judgement.
  • Anora's Club: Not anything too special, just a uniquely named Daedric Club. The ID is daedric_club_tgdc. The ID indicates it may have been related to a Thieves Guild quest at some point. Anora is a Redguard member of House Telvanni found in Tel Aruhn in the final game.
  • Ebony Shortsword: Although it has the same name as the ebony shortsword, it uses the same model as Mehrunes' razor. It's possible that this was intended to be the rusty dagger you found as part of Mehrunes Dagon's "Mehrunes' Razor" quest. The ID is ebony_dagger_mehrunes.
  • Herder's Crook: A Silver staff with a unique enchantment that's not found normally in the game. The enchantment is herder_crook_en and is a cast on strike enchantment that paralyzes for 5 seconds and damages health 3-7 points for five seconds. The ID for it is herder_crook.
  • Iron Fork: Possibly one of the more well known unused weapons, the Iron Fork doesn't appear directly in its base form. However, the model itself is the base for the Fork of Horripilation needed for Sheogorath's quest. All of its stats seem to be generic except for possibly the damage values which all do 3-5 damage. The ID for it is "iron fork".
  • Staff of Llevule: A wooden staff not found anywhere in the game. It uses the same enchantment as Dagger of Judgement, a used item that is easily found during the main quest. The ID for this item is staff_of_llevule.
  • Throwing Knife of Sureflight: A throwing weapon with the appearance of a steel dagger. Despite the name, this weapon has no enchantment attached to it. The ID for it is throwing knife of sureflight.

Armor

Veloth's Shield: Nothing terribly special. Seems to be a differently named duplicate of the Velothian Shield which is used. And like the shield, its stats are identical. Its ID should one want it is veloths_shield.

Clothing

  • Belt of Heartfire: There are actually two unused versions of the belt you obtain from Dagoth Uthol. One uses the Extravagant belt model while the other uses the finalized model but weighs less. As far as enchantments go, they're the same as the finalized version of the belt. The IDs for the unused versions are extravagant_belt_hf and artifact_belt_of_heartfire respectively.
  • Heart Ring This is the ring you'll find on the ground in front of the door to the heart chamber in Dagoth Ur's facility after defeating him the first time around. There's a second version of it that uses a different enchantment. This one uses the enchantment heartring_en rather than the finalized version's ward of dagoth enchantment. This alternate version of the ring uses the ID artifact_heart_ring. As for the enchantment, it's similar to the finalized heart ring's but it's missing resistances to magicka, shock, and paralysis.
  • Other Ash Vampire Artifacts: Just about every other Ash Vampire artifact has an alternate version that uses the same in-game name but a different ID. The IDs are all artifact_*itemname* however, the enchantments are for the most part the same.
  • Slippers of Doom: A "cursed" item that goes unused. As the name suggests it has a cast on use effect that does a "Damage Health" spell that does 30-30 points of damage on self and lasts for 1 second. It uses common_shoes_01 as the base item. It has a unique enchantment, listed in the construction set as suicide_en. The ID for this item, should one feel obligated to get it via additem command is slippers_of_doom. It's unknown what these would have been used for other than as a possible quest related item or as a seemingly useless enchanted item that the player would come across.
  • Mandas Family Locket: Seems to be an older version of the item Delyna Mandas gives the player after they rescue her from Tel Fyr. The item you get in the final game is called Delyna's Locket (ID: expensive_amulet_delyna) and is related to the Mad Lord of Milk quest. The unused Mandas Family Locket is actually an exquisite amulet instead. The ID for it is mandas_locket.
  • Fenrick's Doorjam Ring: This ring is similar to the spell of the same name. Does a lock for 10 points on touch. The ID is the same as the in-game name (Apostrophe included).
  • Recall Ring: A Ring with a recall on self enchantment. The ID is recall_ring.
  • Tsiya's Ring: This ring appears to have something to do with a Khajiit NPC named Tsiya, found in Balmora. Tsiya is related to a quest known as The Corpse and the Skooma Pipe. It's possible this ring played a role in the quest somehow at some point or was at least planned to. The ID is common_ring_tsiya.

Only Unused in Vanilla

A few items go unused in Vanilla Morrowind because they are in an unused leveled list. This leveled list is l_m_enchantitem_temple_rank8_1. It should be noted however that this leveled list is actually used in Tribunal by one NPC named Elbert Nermarc, making it possible to obtain these items after installing Tribunal.

  • Robe of Burdens: An enchanted robe with a unique enchantment not used anywhere else which is burden_en. The ID for this item is the same as its in-game name.
  • Robe of Trials: An enchanted robe with a unique enchantment not used anywhere else which is helljoint_en. The ID for this item is the same as its in-game name.
  • Weeping Robe: Yet another robe. This robe however shares the same enchantment as the ring of wounds. Its ID is the same as its in-game name.
  • St. Felm's Fire: A ring with a unique fire damage enchantment called god's fire_en. The ID is the same as its in-game name.

Also of note, this leveled list contains other items that are used but difficult to come by such as the "Gavel of the Ordinator" which only has one instance in the vanilla game, and is on a non-hostile NPC.

Unused and Unusable Keys

Quite a few keys in the game either were not placed, were placed but have no purpose, or both. This section will cover these keys. If it exists in-game an ID won't be displayed unless the ID has something notable about it or the key shares a generic name of another unused key. It should be noted that unused slave keys will not work because the dialog conditions for the slaves in said cells have not been set. (there's still a glitch to get around this, but it involves moving them to a cell that slaves can be freed in using command humanoid spells.)

  • Addamasartus Slave Key: Not to be confused of the used key of the same name. That one uses key_addamasartusslaves_01 while this one uses key_slave_addamasartus. This key has no purpose whatsoever and cannot be obtained without the console.
  • Anja's Key: It can be found in the inventory of Anja Swift-Sailer in Dagon Fel but does not open anything.
  • Arobar Manor Guard's Key: Can be found in two places, both of which are in Arobar manor: Bolyn Elval in Ald'ruhn, Arobar Guard Quarters and Llavane Hlas in Ald'ruhn, Arobar Manor Bedrooms. It does not open anything but it's obvious it was meant for a door in the guard quarters of Arobar Manor.
  • Arobar Manor Key: Yet another key to Arobar Manor. Found in the inventories of Miner Arobar and Gandosa Arobar in Ald'ruhn, Arobar Manor Bedrooms. Like the previous key it doesn't open anything.
  • Aurane Frernis' Key: This key opens a lock level 40 chest in Vivec, Aurane Frernis: Apothecary but cannot be obtained without console. The ID for it is key_aurane1.
  • Key to Andas tomb: Opens two lock level 10 doors in Andas Ancestral Tomb. It cannot be obtained without the console. Its ID is key_Andas_tomb. Probably removed because most players, even ones with a low security skill, can open level 10 locks pretty easily.
  • Bandit's Key: This key cannot be found in-game and doesn't open anything. Its ID is key_shushishi which hints it may have something to do with Shushishi, a small bandit cave over the hills East of Caldera that is important for a misc quest.
  • Brallion's Key: This key has no purpose or in-game location. Judging by the name, it was meant for the slave trader Brallion in Sadrith Mora. Perhaps one was able to buy his slaves originally. The ID for it is key_brallion.
  • Darvam Hlaren's Key: Found on the person of Darvam Hlaren in Ald-ruhn Council Club. It does not open anything.
  • Key to Falas Tomb chest: Not found in-game, this key opens two lock level 20 chests in Falas Ancestral Tomb. The ID for it is key_Falas_chest.
  • Gateway Inn Slave Key: This key is supposed to open all slave bracers in the Gateway Inn in Sadrith Mora but does not. It cannot be obtained without the console however. Its ID is key_GatewayInnslaves_01.
  • Imayn Slave Cage Key: This doesn't open anything and isn't found in-game. Judging by the ID, it's related to the slave cages in Tel Aruhn. The ID is key_tel_aruhn_slave1.
  • J'zhirr's Key: This key cannot be found in-game and must be obtained via console using the following ID: key_j'zhirr. This key opens a lock level 40 door and lock level 40 chest in Ebonheart, East Empire Company Hall.
  • Lizard's Head Slave Key: It is supposed to open all the slave bracers in the Lizard's Head located in Vivec's Telvanni Canton but does not. (there's only one slave there normally anyway) can only be obtained with the console using the following ID: key_viveclizardheadslave_01.
  • Llorayna Sethan's Key: Opens a lock level 15 door in Tel Branora, Sethan's Tradehouse. Cannot be found in-game and must be obtained with the console ID key_sethan.
  • Madach Room Key: The player was probably originally able to buy a room in Madach's Tradehouse as this key's name suggests. Sadly, in the final game Fenas Madach says he rented out the last room to the Imperial Legion captain in Gnisis. Interestingly, the key can be bought off of Fenas Madach as he is a merchant and the key is in his inventory. It doesn't open anything however making buying it rather pointless.
  • Mebastien's Key: Another totally worthless key found on another Breton Merchant. Unlike the last key though, it can't be bought from said merchant so he will have to be killed to obtain it.
  • Ministry of Truth Entrance: May have been intended for what the key the Ordinator at the doors actually hands you (Ministry of Truth Key) is used for. However, it doesn't open anything in the final.
  • Molag Mar Slave Key: A slave key for perhaps the most ill-fated of slaves in the vanilla game. It's obvious this key was supposed to open the slave bracers for the Slaves in Molag Mar's slave market area. Sadly, the key doesn't do anything, like most of the unused slave keys. The key must be obtained via console as well. The ID for it is key_molagmarslaves_01.
  • Key to Mzanchend chest: Cannot be found in-game. Opens a lock level 15 Ornate Dwemer Chest in Mzanchend. The ID is key_Mzanchend_chest.
  • Key to Nchuleftingth: Found on a table in Nchuleftingth but doesn't open anything.
  • An old tomb key: Must be consoled using object ID key_Senim_tomb. Opens two lock level 50 doors in Senim Ancestral Tomb.
  • Omani Manor Key: A key that doesn't open anything. Needs to be consoled with the object ID of key_omani_01. Obviously it was meant for something in Omani Manor.
  • Key to Omaren chest: A key not normally found in-game that opens a lock level 10 chest in Omaren Ancestral Tomb. The console ID for it is key_Omaren_chest.
  • Preserved Ancient Key: A key not found in-game that doesn't open anything. Its ID is key_falas tomb keepers. Judging by the ID it was probably meant for Falas Ancestral Tomb.
  • Preserved Ancient Key: This key actually IS in-game unlike the previous one. Sadly, it doesn't open anything. Its ID is key_fetid_dreugh_grotto. Judging by the name, it was supposed to be used in a grotto with Dreughs. This key can be found in two locations in-game: a chest in Aharnabi and a chest in Punammu.
  • Redoran Iron Key: This key was meant to unlock a lock level 75 chest in Ald-ruhn, Pellecia Aurrus's House. However it's not found in-game. Its ID is key_pellecia aurrus.
  • Redoran Iron Key: This key doesn't open anything and isn't found in-game. Its ID is key_redoran_basic.
  • Rusty Key: Found in a potted plant in Assi Serimilk's hut, Maar Gan, this key was obviously meant to open something in said hut. Unfortunately, it doesn't open anything.
  • Rusty Key: Completely unused and without anything to open, the only clue as to what this key was for is the ID which is key_kagouti_colony. Obviously, the player was meant to encounter a colony of Kagouti at one point.
  • Rusty Key: Another key that doesn't appear in-game and has no purpose. Once again the ID hints where it was probably used: key_shipwreck9-11. At first the numbers don't seem important, but on closer inspection, they're actually exterior cell coordinates. Namely the coodinates 9,-11 which indeed does have a shipwreck. The Deserted Shipwreck to be precise. This was probably meant for a chest or one of the doors onboard the shipwreck.
  • Sadrith Mora Slave Key: Probably meant for freeing the slaves in Sadrith Mora without buying them. Sadly it doesn't appear in-game and doesn't open anything. Its ID is key_sadrithmoraslaves_01.
  • Saryoni's Key: Was probably an early version of Archcanon's Private Key. It's not found in-game nor does it open anything. Its ID is key_saryoni.
  • Shilipuran's Key: A key that doesn't open anything. It is found on the person of Shilipuran Zama-Rasour in Mar Gaan. Was probably meant to unlock the door to their hut.
  • Simple Key: This key opens a locked door in Hinabbi. The ID is key_hinnabi.
  • Simple Key: Found on the person of Dreyns Telmon in Tel Branora. Doesn't open anything.
  • Small Key: This worthless key is rather special because of how many NPCs have it and how many of those NPCs were unused. (for the unused NPCs that carry it, see the Unused Actors sub-page) Its ID is key_aldruhn_underground. Interestingly, there is no underground section of Ald'ruhn in the final game. This key can be found on two in-game NPCs: Ilmiril in his house in Ald'ruhn and Lirielle Stoine in The Rat In The Pot, Ald'ruhn.
  • Small Key: A key that opens nothing found on Hasphat Antabolis. Not to be confused with the Dwemer key he gives you after the Dwemer Puzzle Box quest.
  • Small Key: A key that opens nothing found in the single bedroom of Hlaalo Manor in Balmora.
  • Small Key: This key is found next to a tuft of grass under Relien Rirne's house in Hla Oad. It doesn't open anything.
  • Standard Key: A key that doesn't open anything and cannot be found in-game. Its ID is key_standard_01 and is quite generic which doesn't indicate what it was planned to be used for, if anything. It may have been used to make other keys so the developers didn't have to keep searching for the model and icons every time they wanted to make a new key.
  • Standard Key: A key carried by Hassour Zainsubani at the Ald Skar Inn in Ald'ruhn. It doesn't open anything.
  • Suran Slave Key: Is supposed to open the slave bracers for the slaves in Suran's slave market but doesn't. It isn't found in-game and the ID is key_suranslaves_01.
  • Tel Aruhn Slave Key: Is supposed to unlock all slave bracers in Tel Aruhn but does not. The ID for it is key_telaruhnslaves_01.
  • Tel Branora Slave Key: Is supposed to open all the slave bracers in Tel Branora but does not. The ID for it is key_telbranoraslaves_01.
  • Tel Vos Jail Slave Key: This key isn't found in-game and doesn't have any purpose. There are no slaves in Tel Vos's Jail. There is a Khajiit Pauper and a Dunmer Witchhunter along with a few guards but that's it. The ID is key_telvosjailslaves_01.
  • Temple Key: A key that cannot be found normally and does not unlock anything. It is unknown what this key was intended for because of this generic ID which is key_temple_01. Most likely it was a key for one of the Tribunal Temples scattered throughout Vvardenfell.
  • Tomb Door Key: Seems to be another key for Falas Ancestral Tomb according to its ID: key_falas tomb keepers_2. It may indicate the tomb had an enemy protecting it. It doesn't unlock anything nor can it be found in-game.
  • Tomb Door Key: This time the key has a rather generic ID which is key_gen_tomb. It's actually found in-game inside Serano Ancestral Tomb and Lleran Ancestral Tomb. It doesn't open anything however, not even in said tombs.
  • Tuveso Beleth's Key: Held by Tuveso Beleth in her shop in Ald'ruhn but it doesn't open anything. Probably was meant for a chest in her shop.
  • Key to Tel Naga: There's actually three unused keys not found in-game with this name. Because they're pretty much meant for the same location they'll be mentioned here. key_nelothtelnaga2 and key_nelothtelnaga4 open doors in Tel Naga, Upper Tower while key_nelothtelnaga3 opens nothing.
  • Key to Varo Tradehouse Storage: A key found on Burcanius Varo in the Varo Tradehouse in Vos. It does not open anything however.
  • Worn Key: Found in the pot containing the Corkbulb Plant in Pelagiad, Farusea Salas' House. It does not open anything.
  • Worn Key: A key that doesn't open anything and cannot be found in-game. Judging by its ID of key_fedar it was probably meant for the house of the non-important NPC, Fedar Davus which lives in his house in Tel Branora.
  • Worn Key: A key not found in-game and doesn't open anything. Its ID indicates it was meant for a warren probably filled with Alit. Sadly, no such place exists in the final game. The ID is key_obscure_alit_warren.

Alchemy Apparatus

There are unused apparatus that are far better than the Grandmaster variants. These are the secretmaster variants. All of these are quite valuable and have a quality of 2.00, the highest in the game:

  • SecretMaster's Mortar and Pestl: The console ID for this is apparatus_sm_mortar_01.
  • SecretMaster's Alembic:The console ID for this is apparatus_sm_alembic_01.
  • SecretMaster's Calcinator:the console ID for this is apparatus_sm_calcinator_01.
  • SecretMaster's Retort: the console ID for this is apparatus_sm_retort_01

Lock Picks and Probes

The secretmaster lockpicks are interesting because for some reason Game of the Year Edition removes them from being sellable by Hecerinde, a high ranking member of the Thieves' Guild and also the master trainer of security. These have a quality of 1.5.

  • Secret Master's Lockpick:The console ID is pick_secretmaster.
  • Secret Master's Probe:The Console ID is probe_secretmaster.

Clutter

  • Jar of grease:The console ID for this is Misc_flask_grease.
