| To do: Document unused sound effects and jingles from this video |
Tomato Adventure was AlphaDream's second and last RPG prior to the release of Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga, which shares some elements with this game: besides both being action-command RPGs, Superstar Saga includes two unused tracks based on Tomato Adventure's title screen music, as well as a boss called Hermie III designed like the Yadotree enemies from the sunken ship.
The game was originally developed for the Game Boy Color as Gimmick Land, with its prototype eventually being found in a leak on September 2020.

Unused Enemies
| To do: May be more. See talk page. |
- Tomatowalker: The Tomatowalker (トマトウォーカー) is a green faced creature in a red walking machine that fires Hoshikuzutomato enemies on the overworld. Although they can be found in the Gimmick Palace, they are out of the player's reach and entering the battle from their projectiles never provides a battle with a Tomatowalker. Despite this, battle data exists. It is not to be confused with the yellow faced Tomatoleader mini-boss, which can be battled normally.
It can be accessed anywhere in battle with the encounter modifier with offset $637ED0 (code 030008EC:08637ED0); which seems to be the 73rd enemy pointer in the ROM.
Unused Items
Tomato Adventure has various unused items with simply the description "Dummy" (Japanese: ダミー). Most of them have no names, but there are four that do have names. Modifying address 0x030019D5 will change the index number of the first item.
List of unused items:
- 0x01-0x0F - Unnamed items
- 0x23 - Multiple Hit Killer (Japanese: れんだキラー)
- 0x24 - Timing Killer (Japanese: タイミングキラー)
- 0x25 - Speed Killer (Japanese: スピードキラー)

Multiple Hit, Timing, Speed, and Heart-Pounding are the four types of Gimmicks.
Hidden Gimica Cards
Two of the Gimica Cards in the game (Abīra and Patharan) are only available with a series of specific button presses. This secret is hidden away in the Nintendo Official Guidebook for the game on Page 68, published by Shogakukan.
In Oisu Town's Colosseum (the main location for Gimica battles), after unlocking the option to do so, attempt to initiate a communication battle. While waiting, enter the following commands. No Link Cable is required.
- Abīra card: Left, Up, B, Down, Up, Down, A + B, Right, A, Down, Up, B
- Patharan card: Up, Right, A, Down, Right, B, Down, Right, A, Down, B + A, Up
Unused Text
At offset 0x62D380 is the text "GIMMICK LAND VR0", referencing the original name of the game as a Game Boy Color title.
