When donations are collected at the fountain in the Japanese version, the money is presented in a wooden box. In all other versions, it's seen in a glass piggy bank:

Word Chain/Rap Battle
In the Japanese and Korean versions of the game, a Word Chain event can happen at the Fountain from 06:00 through 07:00PM. In the North American version, a Rap Battle event will happen instead around the same time. The European version contains both events, present in different time slots; Word Chain can happen from 05:30 through 06:30PM, while Rap Battles can happen from 07:30 through 08:00PM.
Word Chain shows two Miis standing in front of the fountain facing each other, with additional Miis sitting on the ground behind them. One will then shout out a category followed by the other shouting "Start!", after which they will both name things related to the category (Food association will have them name things like dates, English breakfasts, etc.). They must also use the last syllable of the previous word as the first syllable of the next word. Whoever takes too long to come up with a word, uses the wrong initial syllable, or repeats a word already said will lose.
Rap Battle has the same basic setup, but is different in pretty much every other way. All of the Miis are now standing up with their arms crossed, bobbing up and down to the beat. One Mii will immediately start rapping, letting the other come back with their own verse. A Mii will lose when they start wobbling wildly and saying "Um..." before their comically-weak verse.
