Tools

Inspired by Vyroz's "Wanna know what I used to rip Kirby games?" section in their userpage.

PC and Mobile Games

Program Function
AssetStudio Used this tool for almost every Unity games. As of now, I use aelurum's AssetStudioMod fork to rip games made with newer versions of the Unity engine, like Stone Story RPG.
Spine For .skel and .atlas files found in some games. Examples are Cookie Run: Kingdom, Cult of the Lamb, Cooking Fever, you get the idea. (Search "spine esoteric software" in order to avoid Searches related to the actual spine.)
QuickBMS Used in a few situations. Most commonly FMOD .bank files.
DetectItEasy For looking at strings inside random file formats and .exe files.
ImHex My go-to hex editor. Currently used for Tomodachi Life save data analysis.

Nintendo

Program Function
KillzXGaming's Switch Toolbox My main tool for looking inside Nintendo Switch/Wii U/3DS game files.
AeonSake's MSBT Editor For checking out the MSBT files. In the past, I used IcySon55's MSBT Editor Reloaded, but eventually switched to this due to supporting custom function maps and having an editor akin to Visual Studio Code.
