Textured TF2 grenades

WHERE DID YOU GET THOSE? Are they official (made by valve)? If not, we can't use 'em. 404: User Not Found (talk) 22:22, 24 April 2013 (EDT)

EDIT: Almost forgot to ask this. If they are official (made by Valve, but never publicly released until now), can I get copies of the texture files for everything except for the Frag Grenade and Dynamite Pack (because I already have them) 404: User Not Found (talk) 22:27, 24 April 2013 (EDT)
They are indeed official and I've had them lying around for a year now. They are technically publicly available as they're in the earliest version of TF2 that's on Steam (which until recently could be downloaded with the right tools). I'm surprised that no one else seems to have them (thus the not doing anything with them for a year) so I might upload them somewhere in the next few days. --Firebeast 10:00, 25 April 2013 (EDT)
Would these textures be in the data files included in the original releases of The Orange Box retail packages? I have one from a month after the set came out. // Foxhack 15:08, 25 April 2013 (EDT)
I don't think so. The textures were removed before the pre-load and closed beta in September --Firebeast 15:33, 25 April 2013 (EDT)
I just want the skins for two reasons. One, so I can upload them to GameBanana (as I have already done for the Frag Grenade textures, the Bear Trap textures (I created my own BLU version), and the Dynamite Pack textures (I created my own BLU version), and two, because I want to use them for this plugin I'm working on that re-adds grenades, and having official textures would be awesome. If you could upload all the textures you have for the removed weapons to like, Mediafire, that would be awesome. Oh, and for the uploading to GameBanana part, massive credit would of course be given to you in my submissions. If you can find ANY other unused weapon textures that we are missing (like the Beer Stein for example), that would be AMAZING. 404: User Not Found (talk) 17:02, 25 April 2013 (EDT)
Enjoy. Includes any unique textures from that version. The Lead pipe is the only weapon with a completed texture (and v_trigger whatever that is), the rest just had placeholders before they were scrapped. The Beer Stein first appears in the gold rush update so it has no textures (based on the model it didn't survive long enough to get a texture). Is said plugin based on anything? Because code for the grenades was leaked last year. --Firebeast 18:55, 25 April 2013 (EDT)
I. Love. You. 404: User Not Found (talk) 21:22, 25 April 2013 (EDT)
Do you mind if I upload the textured images for the unused weapons to the TF2 Wiki? I'll make sure to give you credit. Supermariosomething 22:04, 25 April 2013 (EDT)
Firebeast already uploaded them (well, the grenades anyway). 404: User Not Found (talk) 22:51, 25 April 2013 (EDT)
Odd request for you Firebeast. Do you think you could upload the entirety of the models and materials folders? I'm seeing that the grenades have view model textures in their own v_ folders, but the current TF2 lacks these, which leads me to believe you may also have view models for the grenades. I'd love to get my hands on all the models and materials. 404: User Not Found (talk) 03:11, 26 April 2013 (EDT)
I don't think there would be much point. There are no other files that only appear in that version, and the only files that are different are either the same as in retail TF2 but using a slightly older format version, or have small non-visual changes (such as the grenade launcher doing 90 damage rather than 112). None of the grenades code reference a view model either (instead it just lowers your weapon when a grenade is held) so it's likely just something Valve didn't clean up. --Firebeast 07:24, 26 April 2013 (EDT)
Exactly! That's the type of stuff I wanna check out. Especially the player models. Who knows, there may be some old animations in there! 404: User Not Found (talk) 12:48, 26 April 2013 (EDT)
Nothing of interest but here's the rest of the files. I didn't include any that are the identical to their 2007 beta version as there are still downloads of that floating around. --Firebeast 16:44, 26 April 2013 (EDT)
Thanks bro, you're awesome :D 404: User Not Found (talk) 17:35, 26 April 2013 (EDT)

v_trigger ?

I just noticed there's materials in the first download you posted for a weapon listed as "v_trigger". I did find this and this which list all the "v_trigger" files. Here's the list:

  • "tf\models\weapons\v_models\v_trigger.vvd"
  • "tf\models\weapons\v_models\v_trigger.ani"
  • "tf\models\weapons\v_models\v_trigger.dx80.vtx"
  • "tf\models\weapons\v_models\v_trigger.dx90.vtx"
  • "tf\models\weapons\v_models\v_trigger.sw.vtx"
  • "tf\models\weapons\v_models\v_trigger.phy"
  • "tf\models\weapons\v_models\v_trigger.jpg"
  • "tf\models\weapons\v_models\v_trigger.mdl"
  • "tf\materials\\models\weapons\v_trigger\v_trigger.vmt"
  • "tf\materials\models\weapons\v_trigger\v_trigger.vtf"
  • "tf\materials\models\weapons\v_trigger\v_trigger_normal.vtf"

I have the three material files. Would you bychance have the model files for this? There's no other information on this ANYWHERE. The TF2 Wiki has nothing, and we don't have any info on this either. 404: User Not Found (talk) 22:05, 27 April 2013 (EDT)

Nope. That is actually the first time I've ever even seen the model referenced. I've searched through the all the GCFs and can't find any files besides the texture, so you'll probably have to contact someone like Robin to get any info or models (although my best guess is that it's the detonator for the MIRV after it was a timed grenade). --Firebeast 10:31, 28 April 2013 (EDT)
Oh, and for the GCFs, if you want to pass a link to me discreetly, add me on Steam. 404: User Not Found (talk) 20:34, 28 April 2013 (EDT)
Actually, send me whatever you got. Leaked source code, GCFs, etc. The leaked source code will be incredibly useful for potentially reimplementing old stuff via SourceMod plugins, and the GCFs are something I've wanted to get my grubby mitts on for quite some time. It's incredibly hard to find this stuff out in the world wide web these days. 404: User Not Found (talk) 20:43, 28 April 2013 (EDT)
I'll upload them tomorrow as its early morning here. I don't think I'll upload everything as 1.5TB of GCFs is a bit much for my connection to handle. --Firebeast 20:47, 28 April 2013 (EDT)
1.5TB?! Jesus christ! Just try not to leave out the good stuff ;) How exactly is a couple of GCFs 1.5TB? How much secret stuff from TF2 do you have?! 404: User Not Found (talk) 20:58, 28 April 2013 (EDT)
I should have explained that it's 1.5TB for my collection of 1100 TF2 GCFs, the earliest version is only 2.6GB. Trying to fill in the gaps is how I stumbled upon this version in the first place. --Firebeast 21:11, 28 April 2013 (EDT)
My god, do you just extract GCFs each and every time TF2 updates? Or are these all incredibly old versions that've never seen the light of day? 404: User Not Found (talk) 21:44, 28 April 2013 (EDT)
