Doopliss Poisoned gif

Hey Lazlo, I have video files from when I was making the gif for Doopliss' unused poison animation. However, I couldn't manage to make the gif clearer than the one on the page. If I send you a video file, do you think you'd be able to produce a cleaner gif? Thanks! --Kimimaru (talk) 03:04, 20 January 2017 (EST)

I just attempted to make a gif to make sure my theory was right. My first try was terrible, but my second seems perfect! What I have right now is Doopliss' poison animation with a grey background, but without the green poison filter. I can get a cleaner gif, but it depends on what you want; if you want the poison effects from your video, then you should send me the video.--Lazlo52 (talk) 17:54, 22 January 2017 (EST)
That sounds great, and I'm perfectly fine with that! How did you capture the animation? --Kimimaru (talk) 19:39, 22 January 2017 (EST)
It sounds like you want my version? Alright, I'll get to uploading it and updating the page tomorrow. As for how I captured it, I replaced a text entry with just Doopliss in the poison animation centered on the speech bubble. Then, I recorded it in Dolphin with Fraps and cropped it with VirtualDub. From here, I initially tried to export it straight to gif, but it turned out both horribly compressed and with a bad framerate. Instead, I exported it as an image sequence. Lastly, I put all those images into a single GIMP 2.8 project and then exported it as a gif. There's minimal graininess and it's clear, but it does have some jagged edges. If it turns out we need your version, we can always revert the file. --Lazlo52 (talk) 22:04, 22 January 2017 (EST)
Thanks for the explanation and uploading the gif; it looks a lot better now! I'm curious what internal resolution you had set in Dolphin when you captured the gif. It may be possible to remove the jagged edges if the resolution was higher, as higher resolutions tend to smooth them out more at the cost of speed. --Kimimaru (talk) 07:43, 24 January 2017 (EST)
Exactly. Cost of speed. I have a gaming desktop of ten years ago, so I did my recording in 1024x768 at an internal resolution of 2x Native. I couldn't go any higher. When I was working on the page update, I also was worried it was too jagged, but I convinced myself that the TTYD images in general seem jagged. Hm... I think it would turn out a bit clearer if both resolutions were the same, but that would push beyond what my computer could smoothly handle and would also make the gif even bigger in file size. To say the least, I'm conflicted. --Lazlo52 (talk) 00:13, 25 January 2017 (EST)
