YIIK: A Post-Modern RPG/Unused Areas

This is a sub-page of YIIK: A Post-Modern RPG.

SOMETIMES I SEE A TEXT BOX AND I JUST CAN'T HELP MYSSDFGFFDHFGDJGGFSHGDFH
This page sucks.
If you could make it suck less, that would be awesome.
Specifically: This page is absolutely confusing; vague details, no filenames, not very oblivious how much of this is actually discussing stuff from the final game's files. Not to mention lacking images. Really needs attention.
Careful, you'll lose an eye.
This page or section needs more images.
There's a whole lotta words here, but not enough pictures. Please fix this.

Tutorial Dungeon

EssentiaTutorialDungeon

Rather than the game starting in Frankton, the game initially started with a monologue from Alex about The Essentia 2000. You then would play as her in a dungeon where Krow explained the game's mechanics. Krow acts as both the "Panda Barrier" and "Dali" tools in this dungeon. Krow also would've been with Essentia in battles, with Vella's basic attack. Eventually they would reach the end and fight against Proto Ultima Alex and lose.

At the end of the game in Chapter 6, this area would've been reused to lead to the final boss fight against Proto Ultima Alex. Many of the puzzles are already solved since Essentia solved them earlier in the game.

Bus Intro Cutscene

An unused intro for the game, which can be seen in some early footage for the game. In early review-copies of the game, this cutscene had even more differences, such as a shot of Alex looking disturbed over a man wearing a Panda costume.

Old Frankton

As seen in some early footage of the game, Frankton was going to be a whole lot bigger. It was partially re-implemented in the 1.25 update's "Old Frankton" ending.

All of the data needed for the game to progress (like main story events) are included.

The following rooms are in the "Old Frankton" ending.

Factory Entity Room

The area where you fight the first soul survivor has an older version in the files of the same scene. It's a giant spiral which Alex must travel down. A simple magic carpet puzzle is here, as well as Alex needing to be able to push over a rock to progress. It bears a resemblance to the Tutorial Dungeon. After running away from the entity, you would have to traverse all the way back to the entrance while it chases you.

This area can still be seen in the screenshots posted by Michael on ONISM1999.

Debug Areas

Many rooms meant for testing the game are still present.....

0TestSceneForFrame0

YIIK-0TestSceneForFrame0.png

Contains various objects.

Wilhelm This is the first version of the fight. Lots of HP, and will instantly kill you. They even have a sprite for when you're trying to run away! It also feels like trying to run away is extremely difficult, it takes a while and the jumping enemies are way faster.

Doors You enter, you go to the other door. Pretty simple, really.

Bomb Liftable object. Old feature, would've been used in the Wilhelm fight to bring their HP down to one.

Save Phone You can save but when loading, you'll be dropped into Frankton.

Diamond Chest [1] Gold Bracelet

Golden Chest [1] Gold Bracelet [1] Gold Bracelet $500.00

Hourglass Respawns a ladder with a short dialogue sequence.

"Yo, did you mess up?"
"Would you like to reset the puzzle?"
> No
"If your so smart, you figure it out..."
> Yes
"Here you go man..."
"..."

Essentia (Left) ALEX "Oh, awesome, everyone's here!" CLAUDIO "So where to?" A menu pops up, displaying different locations Alex can go to like in chapter 4. None of these options actually work, though.

Essentia (Right) Plays a cutscene with incorrect audio.

Orange Block (SHOP) Doesn't seem to do anything. Attempts to trigger an "RPG Menu." Might be a for an earlier shop system which is now broken. Would've been for "PizzaPasta"

Cube with written words as textures (TriggerPopup) This will trigger a popup with a reference to DUNGEONTHREE.PROMPTS in the script. This doesn't actually exist, so it just creates an empty display box.

Trash can 1 (Gold)

Trash can 2 (bottom) Dialogue box pops up but no text. Softlock. This is because the actual chest code is disabled for some reason. If re-enabled, it gives you 2 arm cannons, 1 spaghetti, 10 Argonaut Keytars, 1 Mystical Ultima LP Legend, 5 hook hands, as well as 100 dollars.

Trash can 3 (right) Arm Cannon [2] Pepperoni [1]

Fire Hydrant (Top) Enemy. You engage in the Fat Alex boss fight.

Fire Hydrant (Right) Enemy. You engage in poo, Roller bot, Mega Bot A and Mega Bot B.

Fire Hydrant (Bottom) Enemy. You engage in with a skull and a divine spirit.

There are four instances of grass which are disabled by default.

LevelSelectWorld

Seen in the "cut content" video. There's a lot of other things which are normally disabled for this room and aren't seen in the video.
