Beautiful Katamari sees the King of All Cosmos accidentally ripping the fabric of the universe, creating a black hole, at which point he makes the Prince do all the work to plug it up...and pay Microsoft money for seven levels of DLC.

Unused Text

Cousin Roll-Up Comments

Hm? Felt like grit...
It's The Prince!
Don't you have a
dulcimer lesson?
Hm? Something gaudy...
It's Marcy!
Didn't We ask you
to detail Our throne?

The King of All Cosmos has a unique comment for every single playable cousin in the game, from OUJI01 (The Prince) to OUJI56 (The Princess). However, The Prince (01) and Marcy (18) are never rolled up as standard cousins, as rolling them up in Egg School automatically ends the stage, and they are not treated as collectibles in Dangerous Colony. As a result, the dedicated comments for them are never used.

Unused Graphics

BK Yuragi.png

Present in data\test is yuragi.png, which seems to be a test image.

BK demo logo.png

Text reading: "DEMO version" and "This product is currently in development, as such, unforeseen problems may occur. Gameplay may differ from the final product." from the game's trial version remains in the final game's title screen's spritesheet. Note: This same graphic is used in Beautiful Katamari's demo, albeit with the aforementioned text visible.

Beautiful Katamari Size UI.png

The size UI atlas includes the following unused counters: "魚" (fish), "人" (person), "花" (flower) and "虫" (insect).

BK Princeandstar.png

A simple doodle of the Prince in front of a Katamari seems to be placed next to a star sprite. The star in the texture is present in the Royal Rainbow screen.

Bk colony.png

Artwork of the pear machine which represents the Danger Colony and Mechanical Colony stages.

Bk chateau.png

Artwork of the King-inspired structure which represents the Chatéau Notre Desir stage.

The scrapped UI as it appears in-game.
Beautiful Katamari Biggy Battle UI.png

If a single player stage is loaded with "u8Proc" set to 4, this UI will appear on the loading screen. This UI was likely intended for the scrapped co-op mode where both players rolled their own katamaris, as those stages have u8Proc set to 4 as is.

Gauge List

In each stage, a gauge visual appears on the top left of the screen. Not all of these gauges are unique, but four unused designs are listed below. These are determined by the s82dCore factor in d04.dat.

Gauge ID Image Notes
6 Beautiful Katamari Gauge 6.png Features a spinning spiderweb with a spider on it.
8 Beautiful Katamari Gauge 8.png Features spinning blue circles and and a fish.
9 Beautiful Katamari Gauge 9.png Features a spinning bright red flower.
11 Beautiful Katamari Gauge 11.png Features a spinning pink lace background with a girl's face on it.

Unused Audio

Present in data\sound\stream\mono (the directory for the game's sounds and voices) are two audio clips of the word "dummy" being spoken by Microsoft Sam.

V_A_0000.nps

V_B_0000.nps

Unused Music

Stored alongside the rest of the music in data\sound\bgm are two unused songs from earlier games:

LOVE & PEACE & Katamari Damacy (M12_ANGEL.nps)

...and a scratch vocals version of Katamari on the Rocks (test.nps), notable for being used as the music for "King's Kourse" in Pac-Man World Rally. (Due to file size limits, only the first loop can be heard here; the original file lasts 12:04.)

In addition, a copy of M14_PHONOGRAPH.nps is stored as test2.nps.

Unused Objects

MMK Leftovers

A significant amount of objects from Me & My Katamari are present, despite not being used at all in the final game. They generally use very similar models, though some have different textures.

ID Image Name Notes
3600 BK-UmbrellaGhost.png Umbrella Ghost
3602 BK-LampGhost.png Lamp Ghost
3640 BK-KingLopez.png King Lopez
3651 BK-Photographer.png Photographer In Me & My Katamari, this object was named Shiro Kuwata.
3658 BK-WilloTheWisp.png Will-o'-The-Wisp
3659 BK-UglyChair.png Ugly Chair Does appear in the XBLA and Xbox Official Magazine demos, but not in the leftover demo stage in the final game.
3660 BK-BullyTool.png Bully Tool Weirdly, this object IS used in Dangerous Colony, but it can't be rolled up or seen.
3703 BK-LovelyMascot.png Lovely Mascot

Unused Princedom Objects

ID Image Name Note
4051 BK-Sign.png Sign Completely original object, but appears to be unfinished, as it's appearance is simply a red cube. May be related to the Island Sign from Me & My Katamari.
4052 BK-PrinceMail.png Prince Mail Completely original object. Its intended use is currently unknown.
4099 BK-DownloadColony2.png Download Colony 2 Similar to the used Download Colony model used for Mechanical Colony and Dangerous Colony, but is red and has slots for two doors.
4100 BK-DownloadColony3.png Download Colony 3 Similar to the used Download Colony model used for Mechanical Colony and Dangerous Colony, but is green and has slots for three doors.

Unused Modes

Mode 4

Mode 4 removes all HUD elements and effects, but otherwise plays identically to Mode 1 (As Large As Possible). This mode was presumably intended for the scrapped secondary Co-op stages, as it is used for all three.

Mode 5

Mode 5 is used, however the TgtMonoIdx value shows additional target items that are not.

TgtMonoIdx Target Item Notes
3 Insects Likely intended for Stage 49/"bug". The stage itself calls for 0/calories, however.
4 People Likely intended for Stage 50/"girl". The stage itself calls for 3/Insects, however. Despite the more general counter used, only women count towards it.
5 Fish Likely intended for Stage 51/"fish". The stage itself calls for 4/People, however. Is seemingly the most unfinished, as not a single fish object counts towards it.
6 Flowers Likely intended for Stage 52/"flower". The stage itself calls for 5/Fish, however. Is not called for by any stage.

Mode 15

Plays identically to Mode 1 (As Large As Possible), but when time runs out, the VS victory animation plays. This mode was presumably intended for the scrapped secondary Online VS mode, also known as Biggy Battle, as it is used for all five maps.

Unused Levels

Unused Layouts

Roller Roaster ~ Time Attack

In the "u8LocScript_1" parameter in Roller Roaster's param data is a unique layout that is identical to the outside portion of the stage. There is no equivalent map assigned to the layout, but it aligns perfectly with the dedicated Usuigu 50cm-3m map. The existence of a unique layout may imply that a full Roller Roaster Time Attack stage was scrapped, likely due to the stage's gimmick already being about completing it as quickly as possible.

Chateau Notre Desir ~ Time Attack

In the "u8LocScript_1" parameter in Chateau Notre Desir's param data is a unique layout that is almost identical to the over 10,000km portion of the stage. There is no map assigned to this portion, and it does not properly line up with the dedicated Cosmos map. The existence of a unique layout may imply that a full Chateau Notre Desir Time Attack stage was scrapped, likely due to it being unclear on how it would function, as the King stops giving out memory requests at 60 meters.

Level List

The file d04.dat contains parameter data for every stage in the game.

Any value above 71 will freeze the game when loading a stage. Note that placeholder parameter data exists for slots 72-99. 100-199 are used to store the time attack stages' parameter data, but they cannot be forcefully loaded.

42 big-rain Stage uses category 75 (Cute). This is the only stage after ID 41 and before ID 53 to have the "u8Enabled" value set to 1. It makes the constellation Lepus. Note that this and all future maps simply load the test map, unless stated otherwise.
43 big-party Stage uses category 13 (Sound). If the "u8Enabled" value is hacked to be set to 1, it makes the constellation Lyra.
44 big-office Stage uses category 72 (Workers). If the "u8Enabled" value is hacked to be set to 1, it makes the constellation Fornax.

47 big-night Stage uses category 12 (Fashion). Might be related to Lovers' Loom. If the "u8Enabled" value is hacked to be set to 1, it makes the constellation Caelum.
48 big-art Stage uses category 41 (Art). If the "u8Enabled" value is hacked to be set to 1, it makes the constellation Norma.
49 bug Loads the Usuigu Town 20cm-50cm map, usually spawn out of bounds. Likely connected to the unused gauges above. If the "u8Enabled" value is hacked to be set to 1, the HUD will use the calorie counter from Munchies Manor. If the "u8Enabled" value is hacked to be set to 1, and the "u8Proc" value is set to 1 or 9, it makes the constellation Hercules.
50 girl Seems to load the 3m-12m map, but the katamari will always spawn out of bounds. Likely connected to the unused gauges above. If the "u8Enabled" value is hacked to be set to 1, the HUD will use a counter for "虫" (insect). If the "u8Enabled" value is hacked to be set to 1, and the "u8Proc" value is set to 1 or 9, it makes the constellation Virgo.
51 fish Likely connected to the unused gauges above. If the "u8Enabled" value is hacked to be set to 1, the HUD will use a counter for "人" (people). If the "u8Enabled" value is hacked to be set to 1, and the "u8Proc" value is set to 1 or 9, it makes the constellation Dorado.
52 flower Likely connected to the unused gauges above. If the "u8Enabled" value is hacked to be set to 1, the HUD will use a counter for "魚" (fish). If the "u8Enabled" value is hacked to be set to 1, and the "u8Proc" value is set to 1 or 9, it makes the constellation Aquarius.
53 extra-1 3km-10000km section, with bizarre physics. Note that all stages from this point produce blank stars with no proper names.
54 extra-2 Cosmos section, with bizarre physics. Uses the Chateau Notre Desir layout, but with the King rollup-able and the Black Hole as a goal object. Both Ace and Dipp are present. The "u8Proc" value is set to 2 here, the same value used for Schloss Kosmos.
55 extra-3 Beautiful Katamari (XBLA Demo) Demo stage distributed on promo discs and on the Xbox Marketplace, however the english dialogue isn't present. Beating this stage will boot you to the title screen.

Test Level

A test level is only accessible in the game using cheats. When entering the stage, the King states "This is a test. One, two. Well, this is a first!"

To access this stage, access address 182A3E9E0, 2 Byte Big Endian, then access a stage and change the value to 0 during the information screen.

Unused Co-Op Levels

Stored as levels 27, 28, and 29 are three unused co-op stages that would've featured a unique playstyle. Instead of the two players controlling one katamari, they would've controlled separate ones, trying to get the highest combined size possible. While these stages are very unfinished (the unique gameplay is missing, and the stage itself is simply the test level), The King does have unique intro text for all three, revealing the intention of these stages as well as their created constellations (Canis Minor, Crater, and Gemini).

To access these stages, access address 182A3E9E0, 2 Byte Big Endian, then access a stage and change the value to the proper one during the information screen.

Biggy Battle

Stored as levels 35, 36, 37, 38, and 39 are five unused maps for a scrapped versus mode referred to as Biggy Battle. The King states that the goal is to be the first player to reach the target size between all players. This gameplay style is unimplemented, however all five stages do load proper maps, albeit without any objects.

Notably, The King stays onscreen after the intro dialogue, likely meaning he was supposed to be part of the UI for the entire match.

To access these stages, access address 182A3E9E0, 2 Byte Big Endian, then access a stage and change the value to the proper one during the information screen.
