Powerups

Stat Powerup Items

There are unused textures for earlier versions of the stat powerup pickups. The icons are drawn similar to the pre-alpha's menu icons, suggesting they were made by the same person that made the pre-alpha menu icons.

The models these textures were meant to be used on can be found in the pre-alpha.

Early Wraith Orb Model

An early Wraith Orb model named "wraith" can be found. It is simply a sphere, instead of the final's sphere with a demon skull wrapped around it. No texture for it exists.

Unused Used
I can go outside and dribble it! According to 15-year-olds across the US and Europe, an extra skull or two always helps make something look more evil.

Early Megashield Model

An early Megashield model named "mega" can be found. When compared to the final's, it is quite thin and has three large spikes in front of it. No texture for it exists.

Unused Used
It's not wide enough to cover my whole body. What a rip off! Dude, check out this badass skull I got spray-painted on my replica shield at the flea market!

Early Attack Powerup

An untextured model that looks like a rocket taking off can be found in Episode 1's model files. According to Planet Daiakatana, this was an early version of the "Attack" powerup.

Unused Used
To infinity, and beyond! The pointy thing in the attack powerup is considered a weapon and is only available to those 18 or over.

Episode 1

Early Plasteel Armor

Fashion disaster!

An unused Plasteel Armor model is present in Episode 1's model files. Its UV maps point to the final's Plasteel Armor texture, which creates a lot of texture errors on the model. A fixed version of this model appears in-game in the MPlayer Demo.

Episode 2

Early Episode 2 Armor

Daidme2armor.PNG

What appears to be a texture containing the Gold and Silver Armors used in Episode 2 can be found in the skins folder. These textures have a much rougher style not seen in any of the final's artwork, suggesting that this texture is very old and is likely from when Daikatana was on the Quake 1 engine.

Episode 2 Health Pickup

This unused texture for the health pickup items in Episode 2 is much smaller and lighter than the one used. Its style is completely different as well, suggesting it was made during an earlier development phase.

Episode 2 Health Fountain

A lighter version of Episode 2's health fountain can be found in d2_hlthfrnt.

A copy of the texture can be found in "helthfount.skn".

Episode 2 Mushroom

Daikatanawa mush1.png

A small texture for a mushroom can be found. Two copies of this texture exist in the games' files; one is called "a2_mush1", while the other is called "wa_mush1". Based on its naming scheme for both textures, it was supposed to appear in Episode 2 and was an ammo pickup. It might've been an ammo pickup for the scrapped Midas weapon, as its ammo type is unknown.

Episode 3

Early Episode 3 Armor

Daidme3armors.PNG

A file containing the textures for both the Chainmail and Black Adamant armor from Episode 3 can be found in the /skins folder. The Chainmail armor actually looks like chainmail, while the Black Adamant Armor is much less detailed than the final's skin.

Unused Episode 3 Health Potion Texture

An unused texture for the health potion exists. Instead of being metal, it is semi-transparent with a blue liquid in it.

Episode 4

Unused Episode 4 Armor Texture

Daikatanaa4 armor.png

A texture for a dark grey armor not seen in the final game can be found. Based on the name “a4_armor”, it was meant to be for E4. The style is completely different from the armor in E4.

CTF Flag

Unused Skins

Several unused skins for the CTF flag with texture colors that would never fit into CTF, such as orange or purple, exist.

Skull Flag

An alternate flag design with a skull on it exists in the game's files. There is a variation for all of the flag colors the regular flag has, including the unused ones mentioned above.

Temporary CTF Flag Texture

What looks like a temporary texture for the CTF flag can be found in the game's files.
