Taking Photos

In the audio files, tourists have lines where they ask the player to take a photo for them.

M_Y_TOURIST_02
Hey-hey, could you take a shot of me over here?
Hey there, mind snapping a picture of me?
Yo, you wanna take a picture of a complete stud muffin?
F_Y_TOURIST_01
Hey! I'm sorry, would you take a photo?
Excuse me, forgive me, but would you mind taking a photo?
Could you possibly take a picture for me?

In the WeaponInfo.xml file, there is a leftover line of the camera being an object that the game would treat as a weapon that player could use.

	<weapon type="CAMERA"/>

And the final proof of this feature is an unfinished animation where a tourist would pose for a photo. Animation is called turist_pose_loop

Dating GoGetter and Lickingood

On the LoveMeet game website, there are two girls called GoGetter and Lickingood, and according to the text leftovers in american.gxt file, the developers intended for Niko to be able to date them.

More proofs of this idea is that the e-mail addresses of GoGetter and Lickingood are listed among other important e-mail addresses for the player, while all other addresses from which the player receives nothing special are listed after them.

GTAIV Gogetter Lickingood emails.png

And finally, the american.gxt file contains the names of these two girls, who were supposed to be contacts in the player's phone, but currently it is impossible to determine which name belonged to whom.

Picking-Up Hookers On-Foot

It seems that the developers wanted to make a little variety in the action of picking up hookers from the streets, and give the player the ability to pick them up not only through vehicle, but also on foot, although vehicle would still be necessary for the further events.

Idle While Aiming

Ambient.dat file has a commented out line related to idle animation while aiming from the pistol. It is in the Player Movement Groups section, meaning that it was made for the player only. This animation seems to be dropped pretty early in development, as it doesn't looped correctly and Niko has no facial animation while this animation playing.

Buying Food at tw@

It seems that the developers planned to make tw@ a place where the player could buy food, as evidenced by some unused lines from the food vendors.

Hello, welcome to tw@, you want something to eat?

tw@. Can I help you?
tw@. Are you ready to get on the information hi-way?
Thanks for coming to tw@!
You better not to downloaded any viruses.

It could be assumed that this could have been implemented the same way as a small Burger Shot corner in the bowling alley, since tw@ has a similar corner where nobody is standing, but it has a cash register that the player can rob, and speaking of robbing fastfood places...

Robbing Fastfoods

In the final version of the game, the player can rob laundries, tw@ places and MODO clothing store, but according to several unused lines found in the M_Y_FASTFOODBLACK sound bank, the player could rob fastfoods as well, and thereby cause a reaction from the food vendors in there. The only strange thing is that only this sound bank has several lines of this kind, all other sound banks do not have this, probably the feature was scrapped quite early, so there was no need to record more.

Vomiting After Overeating

A feature from Grand Theft Auto San Andreas that supposed to re-appear in IV, but was dropped for whatever reasons, despite the fact that both the animation and the food vendors' lines that would react to such an action from the player remained.

Buying Cellphones

According to some text leftovers in american.gxt file, the player could have the opportunity to purchase phones, and apparently this was done through the in-game internet, as evidenced by the text leftovers from the addresses of Tinkle phone store.

Buying Drugs

Niko has audio files labeled DRUGS_BUY_##, meaning he was able to buy drugs while freeroaming. Only audio files and line of text remain from this feature.

Search Bodies for Items

A strange function, which, according by the audio and animations leftovers, belonged to the player. It's unknown what kind of items player could search for in bodies, it only can be assumed that it could be either money or weapons.

There is one important note here, the game still uses these lines, only in the moments when the player robs the cash register, probably the developers reused it in this way, since the name of the audio refers to this very cut feature.

Drowning and Inhaling

There are only two ways in the game to make Niko lose health in water, either by staying in it for a long time, or by jumping into the water while being in the vehicle, in both cases Niko will not make these noices, perhaps they were made for something else, like swimming underwater?

GTAIV drowning.png
Drowning Inhaling

Death Music

By looking at the LOADING.rpf (which for some reason contains not only loading music) there are six songs that would likely fit whenever Niko either dies or is low on health.

DEATH_01

DEATH_02

DEATH_03

DEATH_04

DEATH_05

DEATH_06

More so, in the gps.rpf there is another sound bank called DEATH_MUSIC that contains two audio files for death music. DEATH_DRUMS is similar to previously showcased DEATH_06, while the DEATH_STRINGS sounds very similar to the pause menu music.

DEATH_STRINGS

Dodging Bullets in Cover

While in cover and under fire from enemies, Niko could comment on such a situation, in the final version of the game he always remains silent in moments like these.

Giving Money to Beggar

In situations where a beggar asks Niko for money, Niko supposed to say appropriate lines depending on player's choice, be it a refusal or agreement of giving money. Similar choice exists in the final version of the game, but in both cases Niko will not say anything to the beggar.
