In Soccer Pocket 2, Japan was the only licensed team with real player surnames. To avoid paying the license fees for the international versions too, Konami removed it and replaced it with the United Arab Emirates.

Referees

The generic "A", "B" and "C" referees were given names (Hase, Heinz and Carlos).

To take advantage of this change, the name of the referee is shown on the pre-match screen.

In the Japanese version, Soccer Pocket 2, the sideline banners advertise Adidas and the Japanese national football team (the "Samurai" banners). The international version, ISS, has two sets of banners that change during the match: first with Umbro and Konami, second with Umbro and Major A Production.
