Monkey Toy

Nintendogs-icnToyMonkey.png

Object ID: $004C
Model ID: $0048
Icon File: 2D/icon_item_toy.narc/icnToyMonkey

A strange monkey toy that, based on its appearance, would bang its cymbals. unused text reveal that the player would have needed to turn the spring to make it move. The leftover data for this item is found between Windup Toy and Talking Bird, suggesting that they were created around the same time. A dummied-out entry for this item was left in the item model table.

Towel

IGN screenshot from January 2005.

Nintendogs-Towel.png

Icon File: 2D/icon_item_toy.narc/Towel

Only the menu icon for this cut toy remains in the files, as everything else is lost completely. However, a towel can be seen in action in a prerelease screenshot appearing to function similarly to the Pull Rope.

Famous Music Box (Temporary)

Nintendogs item1.png

File: Item/MBoxD.narc/Mbox_d.nsbmd
Object ID: $0048
Model ID: $004D

The lost fifth music box features a cyan wooden base, though proper item data for this seems to be lost. It likely played the unused music musicbox_grain_rec. Unfinished texts for this item can be found in Japanese games.

Archie's Treasured Records

Nintendogs-EarlyItemIconRecord.png

Object IDs: $005F to $0063
Icon File: 2D/icon_item.narc/icnRecord (assumed)

A set of five music records was cut from the game which is referred to as Archie's Treasured Records according to unused texts found in the Japanese games. Music tracks for these records don't seem to exist. An unused icon for a yellow record can be found in an unused archive called icon_item.narc, although it was removed in international releases.

Painting Tool

Nintendogs-EarlyItemIconPainter.png

Icon File: 2D/icon_item.narc/Painter

All that remains of this item is an unused icon in an archive containing early item icons. It's unknown how this item would have worked.

Feather Boa

Nintendogs item4.png

Accessory Model: DogAcce/CollerS.narc/coller_s.nsbmd
Accessory ID: $0036
Item Model: Item/S_CollerS.narc/s_coller_s.nsbmd
Item Model ID: $00B5

An attractive collar accessory that does come with unique texts, but it, unfortunately, uses placeholder assets. It does have proper accessory attributes. The shop model is a copy of the Dot Collar whereas the model used when worn by a dog is that of the Japanese Print Collar. It's exclusively found in international releases.

Bandana

Nintendogs item4.png

Accessory Model: DogAcce/CollerT.narc/coller_t.nsbmd
Accessory ID: $0037
Item Model: Item/S_CollerT.narc/s_coller_t.nsbmd
Item Model ID: $00B6

This item, unfortunately, faced the same fate as the aforementioned removed accessory, but it has unused texts as well. A bandana collar was added in the sequel, though.

Ribbon_K

Nintendogs item6.png

Accessory Model: DogAcce/RibbonK_A.narc/ribbon_k_a.nsbmd to DogAcce/RibbonK_C.narc/ribbon_k_c.nsbmd
Accessory ID: $0039
Item Model: Item/S_RibbonK.narc/s_ribbon_k.nsbmd
Item Model ID: $00B8

An unnamed ribbon that reuses the assets for the Green Pearl Ribbon as a placeholder. It has proper accessory attributes, meaning that a dog can wear it using cheat codes. It's been added to the international games.

Pair of Chocolate Glasses

All that remains of this peculiar item are unused texts exclusive to the Japanese games.

Chonmage

Nintendogs-ItemModelS WigB.png

Accessory Model: DogAcce/WigB.narc/Wig_b.nsbmd
Item Model: Item/S_WigB.narc/s_Wig_b.nsbmd

A wig of a traditional Japanese topknot haircut was cut for unknown reasons. In the international releases of the game, all of its assets were replaced by the Rainbow Wig. Unused texts for this wig can be found in the Japanese versions. Unlike other wigs, its shop model does not feature the dog mannequin.

Afro Wig

WigC loaded into the game with cheats.

Nintendogs-ItemModelS WigC.png

Nintendogs-ItemIconWigC.png

Accessory Model: DogAcce/WigC.narc/Wig_c.nsbmd
Accessory ID: $0033
Item Model: Item/S_WigC.narc/s_Wig_c.nsbmd
Item Model ID: $00B2
Icon File: 2D/icon_item_accessories.narc/WigC

An afro wig that was the most finished of the removed items and was likely cut late, as it features a unique icon, model and associated accessory data. The associated text remain lost, though. Using cheat codes, it is possible to make a dog wear this wig, but it cannot be obtained as an item due to the lack of item attributes. It may have been cut to avoid controversy.

Internal Items

Some common objects in the game are actually configured as items, mostly because the player and dogs can interact with them like with other items. Since the player is never supposed to obtain these, they do not go into a proper Supplies category. Furthermore, they all use an unseen placeholder icon in case they are viewed in a menu.

In-game Objects

Various items that the player and their dogs can interact with are programmed into the game as items. This includes the competition trophies, shower items, present boxes, and trash. All of them lack proper text labels, so they display the text for the Tennis Ball item.

Trash Food

When the player checks a Dog's Status screen just after the dog ate trash during a walk, the game displays one of these labels next to "Last Things Eaten". These food labels are actually configured as items, just like normal dog food. However, the game simply crashes when trying to select one of these items from the Supplies list.
