Payday: The Heist/Unused Textures
This is a sub-page of Payday: The Heist.
Unused loading screens and hud icons still exist in the files.
Contents
Early/Cut Heists
The guis/textures folder has loading screens for early versions of the heists, along with ones that didn't make the cut, back when the game was still known as Stone Cold.
"Alaska". According to Almir Listo, an Overkill Producer, when asked about the Alaska heist in an AMA, he said: "During the development of PAYDAY: The Heist, the Alaska heist was one of the heist that we decided not to continue working on. It was a mission based in Alaska where you were going to steal kidneys and transport them by train."
"Stand By". The news logo on the bottom indicates that this was taken from Grand Theft Auto IV.
Early Logo
Grouped along with the aforementioned loading screens is a picture of the game's working title, intended for use as a fallback loading screen.
Unused HUD Icons
item_duck_icon
An icon indicating if you were crouching, obviously used for developer purposes. Copies of this image also exist as item_icon and item_gadget_icon.
item_grenade_icon
An icon for grenades! These weren't implemented until the sequel (as DLC, of course).
heat_shield
A...heat shield. Who knows what this was going to be used for.
equipment_extra_revive_kit
An icon for an extra revive kit. In the final game, there are no revive kits.
gui_timer_circle
A timer of some sorts. Possibly intended to be like the progress bars of Payday 2, which are circles.
warning_sniper
A warning for snipers, although judging by the image seems to be a placeholder. In the final game, there is no warning for snipers.
In addition, the fire icon behind the S appears to be an earlier version of the gas icon.
Early Upgrades Image
To do: Check if upgrades_images_2 is actually used. |
While upgrades_images_1 is used, upgrades_images is not. The icons appear to be from the same version shown in the screenshot to the right, judging from the robber designs.

Trial Version Icons
Images shown in the demo for the PS3 version are still in the game. Since the PC version never got a demo, these went unused.
