Hmmm...
To do:
Add all this stuff and add clarifications when needed.

This is a sub-page of Pokémon Crystal.

Crystal's debug menu includes such items as a battle test, sound test, and the Pokémon and trainer color test menus first seen in Gold and Silver. There's also debugging stuff relating to triggering events, testing the Pokégear function, etc.

Access

In order to access the debug menu, you must begin by applying this patch to the Japanese ROM:

Download.png Download Pokémon Crystal Debug Patch
File: Pokémon Crystal JP Debug.zip (1,011 B) (info)
Current version: 1.0

Then, press Select during gameplay to bring up a menu with a number of debugging options.

Battle Debug

Pokemon Crystal JP Debug Battle Test.png

This screen simply lists various Pokémon and their levels.

The battle debugger lets you choose a team of any 6 Pokémon, with a level input as well. It is also possible to find 2 Glitch Pokémon through this if one inputs No.252 or No.253 on the left hand side of the Pokémon Selection. 252 does not function and simply crashes the game. 253 is fully functional with a random glitchy attack. Its name is タマゴ "egg". The glitch attack seems to be random, with random effects. It's similar to struggle, with the text for it shown. However, the attacks are erratic and different.

You can battle using your selected team of 6 Pokémon against any Trainer (except Eusine) or Pokémon in the game. List of trainer number values and corresponding trainers:

Your typical sound test. The top half is for music and the bottom half is for sound effects. Up and Down selects a music track, pressing A plays it, and pressing B stops it. Left and Right select a sound effect, and Start plays it.

The only way to exit this screen is to reset.
