Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Gates to Infinity/Unused DLC Packages

From The Cutting Room Floor
Jump to navigation Jump to search

This is a sub-page of Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Gates to Infinity.

The DLC for Gates to Infinity has more content stored on Nintendo's servers than what the servers actually send to the end user. It's impossible to obtain it normally through regular purchases, since it is hidden from the 3DS DLC packs list. It can only be obtained through using certain PC utilities that can download the content directly, after which it must be turned into a .cia to be used.

Hmmm...
To do:
Find out if this .cia came from using FunkyCIA. If so, that's probably something for the eShop page.

Unused Music

There are four different BGMs in all of the unused DLC packs.

BGM_DLC_025

A remixed version of the Craggy Coast music from Explorers of Time, Explorers of Darkness, and Explorers of Sky, which is a bit odd since there's an original version of it that plays in the Skill Treasury.

This BGM is named as dlc025 in the game itself, and has many duplicates from dlc026 through to dlc050.

BGM_DLC_051

A remix of the Star Cave theme from Explorers of Sky's first Special Episode.

It has the internal name of dlc051 an many duplicates as well, stretching from dlc052 to dlc094 and dlc097 to dlc100 (which is also the last track of all the DLC packs).

BGM_DLC_095

The Vast Ice Mountain Peak theme from Explorers of Sky's last Special Episode.

This track has no name internally or even externally. When it's playing at the main menu screen or even at Music Paradise, it shows up as dlc095. Unlike the above two unused tracks, it has no duplicates.

BGM_DLC_096

A remix of the above piece. It shows up as dlc096 and also has no duplicates.

Unused Dungeons

Two of the dungeons appear to be test dungeons (5 + 14 and duplicates) and the other two appear to be unfinished planned DLCs (46 + 47 and duplicates). Most of these dungeons are duplicates. In the dungeons featuring all Pokémon, Victini can appear as a dungeon Pokémon. However, much like Kecleon, Victini cannot be recruited, despite the menu listing it as a befriendable Pokémon.

Hmmm...
To do:

Add the following:

  • Document every Pokémon that appears in these dungeons and add screenshots.
  • Victini can be found in some of the dungeons. List its level-up moves, ability, etc.

14 00000073.app ■■■■■■■ ダンジョン (dungeon) 3F Not available Yes Evolve No OK Up to 4 This dungeon contains every trap in the game, as well as Training Switches. The spawn room always has the same layout. It contains a random item, tile or trap, while another room contains 3 sleeping Cobalion with 3 Luminous Orbs and the other room contains nothing. On the second floor is a battle challenge-style layout, consisting of 5 Stoutlands and 3 sleeping Gothitas, all at Level 1. However, unlike the usual battle challenges, nothing happens when all the enemies on the floor are defeated. The only way to legitimately proceed is to step on a Pitfall Trap (if one is generated in the room). However, it can also be continued by hacking in a Stairs or Exit tile (stored as an inventory item). Continuing on from 2F will lead to the Eternal Ruins, where you battle Ho-Oh. Defeating Ho-Oh will result in the game bringing you to the crossroads map outside of the dungeon, which uses the same model as the one used in-game, but without a Pokémon model, warp data, or even collision data being used (a testing map, perhaps?). It may also result in the screen turning black, softlocking the player. The music used on 1F is the "Forest of Shadows" BGM, while 2F and Eternal Ruins use the "Battling Legends" BGM.

46 00000093.app ■■■■■ ダンジョン (dungeon) 20F Can be used 10 times Yes Evolve No OK Up to 4 All Pokémon (144 + Victini) found in the game can be found here. This dungeon doesn't generate new spawns of enemy Pokémon besides the ones that appear upon floor entry, and all enemy Pokémon are at level 1. Any Kecleon shops that appear will sell only Max Elixirs, and the shopkeeper will be at level 1 without the usual maxed stats. Sparkling tiles can only give Max Elixirs. This dungeon has a rest stop after 5F. Contains every item in the game, including all tiles and traps, but mostly spawns Oran Berries and Escape Orbs. On the final floor is a single 9x9 room containing 8 stacks of 100 P$, an Oran Berry, and stairs to the exit. Notably, the map layout generation is the same as for Gilded Halls, but the tileset has a different texture that is only used in the treasure rooms found at the end of certain dungeons (such as Silent Tundra). The music used is the "Apple Woods" BGM.
47 00000094.app ■■■■■■■■■ 一二三四五六七八九 (ichinīsanshīkōrokushichihachikyō) 9F Not available Yes Evolve No OK Up to 4 The dungeon's name has hovering Japanese characters over it, which appears to read "いちにいさんしいこおろくしちはちきょう" and simply translates to "one two three four five six seven eight nine". This occurs because in the Japanese release of the game, the all kanji has its pronunciation above them, presumably for accessibility purposes. This unused dungeon (and the one below it) are the only dungeons with kanji anywhere in its name, which is why they appear like this and the others don't. All Pokémon found in the game can be found here, and all enemy Pokémon are at level 1. Uses the same map layout models as Ragged Mountain. All items can be found here, including all traps and tiles. Uses "Ragged Mountain" for the dungeon's BGM.
48 00000095.app ■■■■■■■■■■ 一二三四五六七八九十 (ichinīsanshīkōrokushichihachikyōjū) 9F Not available Yes Evolve No OK Up to 4 Same as above, except the Japanese characters have changed to "いちにいさんしいこおろくしちはちきょうじゅう", with the only difference being the added "じゅう" at the end, reflected by the "十" in its Japanese dungeon name. This thus finishes the sequence: "one two three four five six seven eight nine ten".
49 00000096.app ■■■■■■■■■■■ イロハニホントチリヌル (irohanihontochirinuru) 9F Not available Yes Evolve No OK Up to 4 Similar to the above, but there are no hovering Japanese characters in the dungeon's name, and only Level 1 Pikachus can appear throughout this dungeon instead of the full cast.
