GT4 Mobile
Gran Turismo for the PSP was originally announced as "Gran Turismo 4 Mobile" at the console's launch at E3 2004, with launch date set for April 2005. However, the game was notably absent from the 2004 Tokyo Game Show and then from E3 2005, a year after it was first announced, and while Polyphony Digital were busy developing the series' then-future on the PlayStation 3, the project went into complete silence. The proposed title, along with "Gran Turismo Spyder", were rejected from being used, as they did not represent a "fully-specced Gran Turismo".
Based on the "GT5M" codename (mentioned below), the game's inner workings appear to be based on GT5 during the transition from Gran Turismo 5 Prologue to the full title's pre-release show builds from that period, rather than on GT4's codebase; while this may have indicated a development reset from "GT4 Mobile" codebase (if work on it did occur), it is unknown when such reset began.
Gamescom 2009
- A "course_spec_gt5m" placeholder track info can be seen when hovering over a track. This is one of few public sightings of the "GT5M" codename.
- Dirt tracks are shown as locked; it is unknown if it is related to the car (the Ford GT) or the demo.
