WWF SmackDown! 2: Know Your Role was announced on August 11th, 2000. It was released in November 2000.

Early Build

These are many matches from what seems to be an early build of the game (possibly a similar build to as the one that was part of the Project Deluge release). They have many contrasting differences.

General

  • There is no background or entrance music.
  • The wrestler name text is different.
  • The grapple and strike sounds are different.
  • The crowd sounds very different and plays in backstage arenas too.
  • The side ovaltron on Arena 1 (SmackDown! arena) does not display the match, and the commentator's table are on the right-hand side of the stage, instead of in the front of the ring.
  • When a victory is scored, the text announcing it are from the first game, and there is no voice announcing it.
  • The HUD used in these videos are from the first game.

Ken Shamrock vs Funaki

  • Ken Shamrock was supposed to return for the sequel and was originally playable at one point, reusing his blue attire from the first game. He was left unused in the final game with updated green trunks attire and entrance music but can only be made playable through GameShark codes.
  • Funaki's name is all capitals.
  • There are crowd sounds in this backstage arena.
  • The coffee table and love-sofa furniture is a different color.

Rikishi vs Vince McMahon

  • Vince is wearing his suit from Career Mode as his attire, which is used only on certain Season Mode cutscenes in the final game.
  • Rikishi lacks his name design on his trunks.

TAKA Michinoku vs Rodney

  • TAKA Michinoku originally went by his first name only and his attire is slightly different. (By comparison, he goes with his full name in the Project Deluge build, but with missing capitalization in "Michinoku".)

D'Lo Brown vs D'von Dudley

  • D'Lo Brown's attire in this video is reused from the previous game, while he was still a singles competitor; it was changed to be shirtless with grey cargo pants, to represent his gimmick change as part of the 'Lo Down stable.
  • The 'Lo Down finisher doesn't land on D'Von properly.

Trailer

This trailer shows off a ton of early and final build footage that changes throughout the video. Some of the footage was repurposed for the games box art.

  • The Undertaker had his Ministry of Darkness attire at 0:11.
  • "Belt" text can be seen at 0:15 and 0:36.
  • Like in IGN videos, the wrestler name text is different and the side ovaltron does not display the match.
