This page details one or more prototype versions of Gunpey (PlayStation Portable).
This prototype is documented on Hidden Palace.
A Test Sample build of the PlayStation Portable release of Gunpey was acquired by lasscat and released by ObscureGamers on February 10th, 2023. It is dated September 1, 2006, which is 12 days before the initial American build.
Differences
In-Game
- The logo of the Quest Beat label is displayed before the title screen, directly after Q Entertainment's. While this logo is displayed in the final Japanese release, it is not in the American and European ones.
- In the title screen, the game's logo has several borders, which makes the design closer to the one seen in the American and European boxarts, rather than the flatter approach seen in the final product, and the trademark symbol is also missing. These differences also extend to the game's icon. Additionally, the copyright text below the "Press START Button" prompt is aligned to the left rather than to the center of the screen.

- Several in-game messages, all related to saving/loading, don't make it clear that "PSP" is an abbreviation of "PlayStation Portable".

- The skin The Elemental Glaucus uses a slightly different background image, which features a face rather than a full body. This difference also extends to the jacket seen in the skin selection menu. Curiously, the image in the prototype would later be used as part of the American and European boxarts for Every Extend Extra, as well as the title screen of Every Extend Extra Extreme.

Internal
- The file CREDITS.TPK, which contains the graphics for the game's credits, was originally inside the folder CDIMAGE\SKIN rather than CDIMAGE\IMAGE. Despite this, the contents of the file are the same.
