A pirated port of Donkey Kong Land from an 8-bit system to a slightly more colorful 8-bit system.

Debug Menu


Game Genie codes XIXALEXG + GTXEPAGV enable a debug menu by pressing Start at the title screen. Up and Down move the cursor, while Left and Right change the value. B and A increase and decrease the value by 10, respectively.

  • RUN GAME - Starts the game; changing the value changes the level the player starts on.
  • MUSIC TEST - Plays a music track upon pressing Start.
  • SOUND TEST - Plays a sound effect upon pressing Start.
  • LEVEL MAP TEST - Presumably allowed levels to be viewed at one point, but merely crashes the game now, regardless of the value selected.
  • DEMO LEVEL - Plays one of the game's five demos (from 00-04). Playing any demo beyond 04 will cause the game to glitch and eventually crash.
  • NNN - There are two of these, neither of which function.

Right before the menu opens, a copyright message saying "FC SYSTEM (C) COPYRIGHT" and a blinking string saying "LIBARY READY" (a typo of "LIBRARY READY") will appear for a couple of seconds. There's also "EI-HOW YANG", but it's colored the same as the background.

Functionally, the menu is almost identical to Toy Story and Pocohontos, which were also done by Ei-How Yang.

Stage Select

At the title screen, press A + B + Select. Use Up / Down to select a stage, and press Start to begin. Because the text uses the wrong palette, you can't actually see it.

Unused Music

This game has an unused music track that was later used in Super Donkey Kong 2. This is strange, since Ei-How Yang didn't make that game, and this is just a port of Donkey Kong Land.
