This is a sub-page of Super Mario 3D Land.

A demo version of Super Mario 3D Land was distributed to various stores. This demo is based on the retail game, and locks the player in 1-1. After beating the course, a thank you message appears and the game restarts. The game was distributed via not for resale cartridges in Europe, and as a digital file that could be loaded onto kiosk units in North America and Japan.

Title Screen

The demo's title screen has a graphic that reads "Demo version" on the top left corner on the top screen. The bottom screen removes the "Return to HOME Menu" text and instead shows the controls, with each button lighting up when Mario performs an action in the title screen's course. Additionally, the title screen and a few UI elements change depending on the 3DS' language settings.

If a player starts the game, a rating will appear for each respective region (ESRB E for North America, PEGI 3 for Europe, and CERO A for Japan).

Gameplay

During gameplay, the game's controls are displayed on the bottom screen at all times. The ability to return to the course selection screen and title screen are also disabled.

Once the player reaches the gyro camera, the bottom screen turns black, and a message appears warning players to not excessively move the 3DS, as kiosk units were usually connected to a base with a rope.

Final Screen

As mentioned earlier, once the course is beaten, a thank you screen appears while a voice clips plays of Mario saying, "Thank you so much for playing my game!" (which originates from Super Mario Galaxy). Depending on the version you're playing, the game will either return to the title screen or return to a kiosk menu so guests could pick another game. This also happens if no buttons have been pressed for two minutes.
