This is a sub-page of Super Mario Galaxy 2.
The DOL contains the following list of player states:
"Normal", "Metal", "Fire", "Ice", "Bee", "Hopper", "Teresa", "Foo", "Bone", "Tornado", "Yoshi", "Horror", "Cloud", "Rock"
This shows that there was state called "Horror Mario" in development, and that Rainbow Mario is internally called Metal (corroborated in Super Mario 3D All-Stars).
