Unused shortcuts
Can you still get into the unused shortcuts? Brickticks (talk) 14:10, 2 December 2013 (EST)
- No, as far as I know their original collision is gone. I don't have a way of confirming this, but I'm pretty sure that's how it is. --Legoking831 (talk) 17:54, 2 December 2013 (EST)
- I confirm what he says Legoking831. I've investigated on the question and it's true: its collision in completly gone. But some bricks present in the shortcut are still there.--Jack Bluebeard (talk) 10:00, 2 February 2014 (EST)
A Brick-ton of Unused Music (N64)
I just watched a video about a guy explaining the difficulties of ripping the music from the PC version of the game. He was expecting to play around with the game's MIDI files only to find out the PC's music isn't sequenced. I knew the N64 had the music in sequenced form, so I ripped all of the music from that version to send his way. I'm in the middle of naming all of the game's music for convenience, so I took to the internet to decipher what song was which. However, a few tracks in, I've only been able to identify the menu theme. That's when I noticed there were a total of 87 tracks ripped. khinsider says the game has a total of 51 songs, and from what I can see, the most songs any upload/playlist on YouTube has is about 47. Counting the unused song already on this page, that would mean the N64 version has at least 35 unused music tracks. Before you ask, no, they aren't sound effects (well, I haven't encountered any yet). Once I sort through every single track at least twice, I'll expand on my findings here. For now, if anyone has any info on this, please let me know. I'll happily share the files if requested. [EDIT: Did the N64 soundtrack really sound like complete ass? I don't remember it sounding this awful, but that could just be FL being uncooperative with .DLS files, as usual.] --Xwasp (talk) 19:20, 16 September 2019 (EDT)
Update: Just noticed 10 of the tracks are labeled as "AdditionalPart1" at the end of their name. So far, I've been able to match one up with the menu theme (one of the only tracks I actually remember). --Xwasp (talk) 19:43, 16 September 2019 (EDT)
- I might be able to help you with this, I played this game a lot as a kid and have a lot of memories of it. If you have a discord it'd be easier to talk than here. I'm Laenthor#0419. --Laenthor (talk) 20:41, 16 September 2019 (EDT)
I'm assuming you're using the N64 MIDI Tool to rip them, right? There are many, many duplicate tracks which may or may not be the fault of the extractor - e.g. the race intro fanfare as well as the race won/loss fanfares. Anyhow, I hope this explains the reason behind the multitude of unused tracks "extracted" from the N64 versions. P.S., I think the reason it sounds like garbage is once again because of the extractor, or perhaps how the sound samples are stored ingame. If I recall, from my time of messing with them, they are slowed down for whatever reason (again, it might be the extractor's fault) and many of the channels of the ripped MIDIs are completely wrong. --NinjaboySC (talk) 21:51, 19 September 2019 (EDT)
Another unused music track?
Hey, so I might be wrong, but I'm pretty sure "luck.tun" also goes completely unused, at least in the PC versions of the game. It is referenced in the files for Rocket Racer/City Run, if memory serves (it's been a while since I've looked), but never played as far as I know. If someone can confirm this, it should probably be added to Unused Music. J 128 (talk) 02:48, 15 April 2023 (UTC)
