So, it turns out the whole trilogy actually *does* have code to utilize the Cybermaxx VR headset (a demo at Macworld also utilised a sort of AR gun too, but I'm not 100% if it could be used by the retail game from the code). Problem is, the Cybermaxx headsets were never produced for apple computers. That being said, the games for sure would work with an apple cybermaxx dev unit. Another interesting possibility is that, since the Win95 port of this game was built off of the same source code, the Win95 version might *possibly* have kept in code for the headset, and since Cybermaxx's were indeed released for Windows machines... actually then it wouldn't be unused and not in the scope of this wiki... Anywho, I'd just check the source code for the Windows port myself, but unfortunately Bungie themselves lost it and therefore have been unable to release it. :< The Win95 version has quite a few differences to the Mac version though, and I will definitely start documenting them, but in the meantime... Is there anyone you guys might know who might actually own a Cybermaxx headset? (asking so I don't go ahead and buy one just to test, if I can even find one >.>)      -2Tie

The infinity and Marathon 2 sources have code to correctly use a dev kit version of the headset but the DEFINE for the control option is commented out. Sorry this update took so long, i forgot i commented about it here. I'll take screenshots of the level messages in a level editor tomorrow or something. The crops should be uniform size, i'm guessing? 2Tie (talk) 02:53, 21 June 2015 (EDT)
Yes, try to make them as uniform as possible. --From: divingkataetheweirdo (talk) 02:59, 21 June 2015 (EDT)

Mac vs Windows version

Unlike the rest of the series, this game was officially released for Microsoft Windows as well. But unlike the Mac version, the Windows version presents some level design differences in some of the maps. Nothing extraordinary as the layouts are still largely the same, but still. These should be documented, possibly with the use of a map editor. I believe the version everyone plays nowadays on Windows (via Aleph One) is based off the Mac levels and not the old Windows levels. --Dynamo (talk) 15:14, 10 March 2023 (UTC)

from what i remember, all levels in the first couple chapters have map differences; some as small as door tweaks, some with added goodies, and then some levels have bigger layout changes, like We're Everywhere has alternate paths into the citadel, C&TYM has changes to the progression-tied panels, and Waterloo Waterpark has the entirety of Arrival added to it with a second shotgun. 2Tie (talk) 23:16, 10 March 2023 (UTC)
There's a (somewhat embellished) summary of the differences on the Marathon's Story site here. --Fuzziqersoftware (talk) 23:48, 10 March 2023 (UTC)
the durandal speedrunners found more than what was mentioned on the mbo pages after i did a couple runs with win95 maps (since they're overall faster). i'll also mention here that the scenario file for Super Marathon is bytewise identical to the mac version. 2Tie (talk) 17:41, 12 March 2023 (UTC)
