"Entirely different game"?

Hi. Can I have some clarification what changes are substantial enough? For instance the Japanese game does include a mode named Coast 2 Coast, but I haven't played enough to compare them. Theclaw (talk) 03:30, 30 November 2015 (EST)

Straight from Wikipedia: "OutRun 2006 was released in Europe and North America on the Xbox, PlayStation 2 and PlayStation Portable in March-April 2006, but was delayed until June for PC. In Japan, OutRun 2006 has only seen a PlayStation 2 release, albeit retitled as OutRun 2 SP." So yeah, there's also the confusion between OutRun 2 SP on the PS2 and OutRun 2 SP on the Chihiro/Arcade set-up. --From: divingkataetheweirdo (talk) 11:41, 30 November 2015 (EST)
So is the PS2 OutRun 2 SP not a port of the arcade one? If so, that's news to pretty much all of us. I'll have to look into this more later; if that is the case, I'll put back the information and update my own databases accordingly. - Andlabs (talk) 13:05, 2 December 2015 (EST)
It'd be easiest to play the game and explore it. But from my observations Sega didn't go back to square one. PS2 OutRun 2 SP still credits Sumo Digital at startup, has the text mentioning things like Xbox Live, and the same 3D file icon for PS2's memory card manager.
