Mew

    • Hey nineko, I was curious, so I opened bgb and looked at the debugger. If you look at 8:40FB, which is a part of the Pokémon hit routine, you can see a check for Mew in place. Turns out, when you hit Mew, a counter at D5C5 gets incremented. And if that counter overflows? The hit gets regarded! That means that if you manage to hit Mew 256*4 times, you can actually catch it. Good luck with that, though! --User:Sanky in a comment

Control Scheme

Before Pokémon Pinball was released over here in Europe, a friend found a ROM of it online (which I believe was in English). I'm 99% sure that it had the ability to freely create a control scheme, which made me disappointed when I finally bought the game and only had three or so predetermined control schemes to choose from. Could there be multiple versions, a prototype or regional differences? --Smallhacker 13:11, 21 November 2010 (EST)

I decided to look into it myself and did indeed find some differences between the American and European versions. Will upload some screenshots. --Smallhacker 13:28, 21 November 2010 (EST)

Option Screen

Is it just me, or does the Option screen music sound very similar to the "Found the Princess" music from Super Mario Land? --Smallhacker 15:47, 21 November 2010 (EST)

Inter-language Text

IIRC the French Pokémon names appear within the English version, are there any other leftovers like this?--Torchickens 16:03, 3 January 2011 (EST)

Just as text in the ROM or actually shown in-game by mistake? --Smallhacker 19:13, 3 January 2011 (EST)
They were actually shown in-game when viewing (invalid) Pokédex entries for false Pokémon. #152 for instance is "Bulbabizarre" --Torchickens 02:55, 4 January 2011 (EST)
Scrolling past Mew only causes graphical glitches. Also, I looked through the ROM and only the English names were there. (I assume we're talking about "Pokémon Pinball (U) [C][!]".)
Sorry I should have clarified, I was using my own European English Pokémon Pinball ("Pokémon Pinball (E) (M5) [C][!]"), and manipulated the game RAM via my Xploder to point to invalid Pokémon. Most of the names are garbage so the appearance of French names in the Pokédex isn't significant but I guess that the very existence of inter-language text is (though it probably only exists in European versions). --Torchickens 10:55, 4 January 2011 (EST)
Oh I'm such a fool (sees language select screen), never mind! --Torchickens 11:00, 4 January 2011 (EST)
