I don't see the antipiracy message in the ROM I have, "3D Battles of World Runner, The (U) [!].nes". In fact, the only NASIR in my ROM is the BY: NASIR text in the demo. - Andlabs 12:54, 23 May 2010 (EDT)
- It's in FDS version. An it seems that message along with a huge part of code is unused there.--Cah4e3 16:07, 23 May 2010 (EDT)
- About that anti-pirate message in the FDS version, according to this page this is triggered if the last file in Side A is absent (I've not verified this myself). I remember reading somewhere about protections programmers threw in at the time, one being that you could set the byte indicating the total number of files on a side to a number different from the actual value, so if you set the value of this byte to be lower than the actual number of files, some of the older copying software may be fooled into not copying all the required files. --Gilbert 05:15, 10 June 2010 (EDT)
Also, THIS IS A TEST string used in main game field background tilemap as separator of two moving backgroung parts - sky and ground. Message even copying in ppu ram then overwritting with sky bg data. So, if there is any unuseb bg's, it is not here.;)--Cah4e3 16:07, 23 May 2010 (EDT)
- Hey, if you can't normally see it in the game, it's still considered "unused." ;) --BMF54123 00:41, 24 May 2010 (EDT)
- As long, as we talking about text lol. Article should be fixed because of this circumstance. ;)--Cah4e3 02:34, 24 May 2010 (EDT)
What's this about FF1 having an antipiracy system? Can't find anything on the Googles. TheKins 11:19, 7 June 2010 (EDT)
- IIRC, changing the name "NASIR" in the credits causes a deliberate crash (the game pulls a few bytes off the stack and does an RTS, causing Bad Things™ to happen). --BMF54123 18:01, 7 June 2010 (EDT)
- Ah, okay. I know a couple of other games that have similar schemes (PROTIP: Trying to remove Konami's copyright causes fun things to happen), do they could for being added to this wiki? TheKins 04:09, 8 June 2010 (EDT)
- I love obscure crap like that. Of course they can be added, preferably with explanations of what modifications the game looks for, and what all the side effects are. --BMF54123 04:50, 8 June 2010 (EDT)
