This is a sub-page of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.
This page houses Skyrim's unused dialogue. The text is copied directly from the game when possible, so any spelling errors or missing words in the "Text" file are completely intentional and should not be altered. "Script Notes" and "Edits" tabs are NOT copied from the Creation Kit, just the text. Sometimes, when there is only an audio file and no in-game text available, subtitles will have been made from scratch and these might not be 100% punctuated like Bethesda might've envisioned. Things like these will always be stated beforehand.
| To do: Seeing as we're looking at Skyrim of all games... tons. But specifically I was thinking of:
- Bjartur's unused lines and scenes with Ahtar.
- Advvar's unused hawking scenes.
- The College of Winterhold's student scenes which all go unused.
- The scene between Vignar and Balgruuf.
- The scenes between Cosnach and Lisbet.
- The duplicate dialogue recording for Asta's line, as well as Whiterun's and Markarth's innkeeper unique line.

Amren
A third response from Amren to the question "You're not from Skyrim, are you?". This response was supposed to be used if the player is a Redguard, however, the condition checks if the player is a Nord instead. Because Nords already have a dedicated dialogue response, this one goes unused.

Captain Lonely-Gale
Captain Lonely-Gale went through a major character change during development. While in the final game he's just a retired riverboat captain, he started out as the Stormcloak-aligned guard captain of Windhelm. He's still referred to as such in a scene between Belyn Hlaalu and his farmhand Adisla in the final game. After that, he was supposed to be Brunwulf Free-Winter's Steward in case of Imperial victory in the civil war, but for some reason Jorleif remains as Steward, meaning his new dialogue can also never be heard.

Lonely-Gale |
But without Ulfric, the movement will wither and die. It's only a matter of time. |
|
Player |
Why did Brunwulf choose you to be Steward?
|
Lonely-Gale |
Well, a few reasons come to mind. |
|
Lonely-Gale |
In my days as a riverboat captain, I was known to run a tight ship. |
|
Lonely-Gale |
That, and I made my fortune by knowing when to spend my septims, and when not to. I can't stand waste. |
|
Player |
Tell me about the city's history.
|
Lonely-Gale |
Windhelm is one of the oldest human cities in all of Tamriel. In fact, it was the capital of the First Empire, which was founded by Ysgramor |
|
Lonely-Gale |
The Palace of the Kings in which you now stand is one of the last buildings that remain from that era. |
|
Lonely-Gale |
Long ago, the Empire used the city to garrison troops who guarded the passes to Morrowind. |
|
Lonely-Gale |
And now, thanks to you, the city is back under the Empire's banner. |

Guard Captain Scenes

Drahff and Hewnon Unused Scenario

Eyldi the Bear
Eyldi the Bear was meant to be a character inhabiting the similarly-removed Bear's Cave Mill. She was meant to have been a local hero of great renown, and both she and the mill still get mentioned in the final game. As this dialogue only exists in the form of audio files, all subtitles have been made from scratch. Also, all these voice files refer to Half-Moon Mill, another mill in Falkreath hold, which presumably got mixed up by the developers, leading to this dialogue being kept in.

Falkreath Scenes
A majority of the townsfolk of Falkreath were meant to have scenes play out with one another, but a lot of these scenes never play as they require the NPCs to be in a location where they normally never meet.
Lod
In the final game Lod is Falkreath's blacksmith, this wasn't always the case, however. Originally, Lod's character was that of a struggling farmer who lived at a farm called "Gentle Repose", he wasn't really liked by the other town residents and would be involved in some questionable activities to make some money. Lod is deliberately kept away from the inn in the final game, this is because if he would enter, some of his scenes would play out. These scenes don't match up with his new character description, but with his old one. Bethesda actually managed to correctly do this, meaning the scenes indeed go unused.

Mathies
Mathies and Indara Caerellia, his wife, were meant to speak to each other at their farm. However, for some reason, the required NPCs for this conversation are marked as Lod and Kust, and the dialogue is recorded in their voicetypes, making sure the scene can never play in the final game.

Salma Alternate Voice
Salma, one of the two adventurers located outside Ironbind Barrow, uses 25 lines of unique dialogue in the final game. These are all recorded in the FemaleYoungEager voicetype, 19 of these lines are also recorded in the FemaleCommander voicetype, suggesting Salma originally used this voicetype. The lines "Beem! What are you doing? Stop it!", "Come on, Beem-Ja. We're going.", "Hey now, don't take all the good stuff!", "Oh, Beem..." and "Father never trusted Beem. I always thought he was just being overprotective." are the only ones that aren't recorded in this voicetype.
{Note: There were no subtitles for these lines, but as they are almost exactly the same as the finished ones I re-used those subtitles instead. I only changed line 9's "Beem" to "Beem-Ja" as this voice says Beem-Ja instead of Beem like in the final, this is also the only difference.}

Shahvee Unused Scene
There is unused dialogue in the game's files related to an unused scene in Windhelm. Because it isn't set up in the Creation Kit, the subtitles have been made from scratch, and it isn't exactly known who was to be involved in this scene. One speaker uses the FemaleArgonian voice type and has a cheery personality, which almost certainly points to the Argonian dockworker Shahvee, as she is the only person in Windhelm with said voice type. Her conversation partner uses the MaleEvenToned voice type, so he would've either been Aval Atheron or Ulundil, with the former being more likely. The presence of this dialogue seems to reinforce the idea that the Argonian dockworkers were once allowed to enter the city, and visited the New Gnisis Cornerclub. This is where Aval still dines in the final game.

Grelka, do you fancy a walk tomorrow? |
|
Grelka |
Odfel, I've told you time and time again. I'm not interested in a relationship with you. |
|
Odfel |
And why not? I'm handsome, strong and smart. What else could you possibly need? |
|
Grelka |
I need someone that cares about me more than they care about themselves. That person isn't you. |

I've been watching the way you mine and I have to say, I'm very impressed. |
|
Grelka |
I owe it all to my father who started me swinging the pickaxe when I was a barefoot little girl. |
|
Grogmar |
Well, it shows. Your skill rivals some of the greatest miners I've known. |
|
Grelka |
Thank you. It's nice to know someone admires me for more than just my appearance. |
|
Sibbi Black-Briar
Sibbi has responses to both Snilf's and Edda's attempt at begging, but these can never be heard as he is always located in jail. The first line is his response to Snilf and the second to Edda.

Soljund's Sinkhole Unused Scenes
The quest of the same name started at Soljund's Sinkhole has a couple of different bugs, resulting in some of Perth, the quest giver's, dialogue going unused. After starting the quest, Perth was supposed to return to the Miner's House and have two pre-quest scenes with co-worker Tuthul, but seeing as his ai packages for after the player accepts the quest prevent him from entering it, the scene can never play.

That's comforting. Glad they're keeping watch instead of getting rid of the draugr. |

Steirod |
We chop trees, we mill the wood. What more would you want to know? |
|
Steirod |
It's a hard way to make a living, but we find ways to make ends meet. |
|
Steirod |
We don't take kindly to people snooping around our business. |
|
Steirod |
These axes can chop a lot more than wood, you know. |
|
Stenvar
Stenvar should be rehirable for free in a window of 24 hours after dismissing him, similar to other hirelings. However, due to broken conditions on his dialogue, the rehire-lines go unused. Also note how the second subtitle doesn't match up with the spoken dialogue.

Gestur |
Good, good. It's honest work, son. No shame in that. |
|
Talib |
Of course not. I never thought otherwise. |
|
Gestur |
Right. Well, you let me know if you need anything. |

My job? Well, I'm the Watcher of the Wheel! Which is... exactly what it sounds like. I watch the Wheel. |
|
Sulvar |
Watching the wheel isn't as simple as you might think. Have to inspect all the way around the ice, make sure it's not melting. |
|
Sulvar |
Don't get too many folks up here these days. Sometimes I think they've forgotten about me. |

|
Terek |
You can't kick me out of here. You want me gone, you're gonna have to kill me. |
|
Terek |
Now I don't care about no deeds, or laws, or other nonsense like that. This house was empty, so I settled in. And now it's mine. |
|
Terek |
I'm a generous man, to those who treat me right. Might be I'll even let you live here with me, if you mind your manners. |
|
Terek |
Don't let the door slam into your backside on the way out. |
|
Terek |
Now if ya don't mind, my house could do with a bit of dusting. |

Trilf |
We're making our money back, bit by bit. Every extra bit of work helps... |
|
Trilf |
We served our time in the Legion. Now we're just trying to make it day to day. |
|
Vilod
Vilod is the innkeeper of an inn located in Helgen, the first town you enter. Like every other innkeeper, you could've asked him about magic, but because Helgen gets destroyed and Vilod cannot be interacted with at this time, this dialogue goes unheard.

Windhelm House Purchase Line
Before finishing the quest Blood on the Ice, you cannot purchase a house in Windhelm. Jorleif, the steward, will tell you "There is an empty home in the city, but there was some... unpleasantness recently. I'm afraid it's not available just yet." This line is for some reason recorded in 9 other voicetypes as well, but goes unused, obviously.
