To do: Trip World DX contains multiple design documents, and the game has a few revisional differences. Document them. |
Trip World is a Mr. Gimmick-esque platformer by the same company, just without the merciless jumps and secrets.

Hidden Menu
After Yakopoo passes by at the title screen, press Select for a stage select and sound test.
Unused Graphics
To do: Look for more unused sprites. |
These sprites are loaded in the graphics in the beginning of World 5.
Unseen Graphics
When reaching bosses and mid-bosses, the game will place walls so you can't go back anymore. However, those wall tiles are always placed outside the current room and therefore cannot be seen. We get to see them by editing our x and y position to go back to previous rooms.
Unused Audio
The following IDs are seemingly never loaded while playing the game. "A" denotes that the audio can be played while you are in World 1, 4 or 5 or at the World 5 bosses. "B" denotes that the audio can be played while you are on the title, game over or level select screen, intro or ending cinematics, world 2 or 3 or at the boss in world 1 to 4. Please see the notes page for more information.

1A and 1B (A and B both) might be earlier versions of the used audio 1C, for when Yacopu attacks underwater while in his fish form:
Revisional Differences
Virtual Console Release
The 3DS VC release toned down on the screen flashing to comply with current seizure protection standards.
In the first scene of the intro cinematics, the whole sky flashes white and black on the Game Boy version, which was changed so that only the top and the bottom of the screen will flash between bright grey and white.
When the final boss appears in World 5, the screen flashes in white color 5 times and 13 more times upon defeating the boss on the Game Boy version. This was changed so that only the first flash is white-colored and all subsequent flashes are dark grey-colored, respectively, on the 3DS VC version.
Limited Run Games Release
To do: The credits sequence in this version of the game has a new section that needs to be covered. |
The monochrome version of Trip World returned as part of Trip World DX, with a difference at the beginning of the game. As Trip World DX was available on PS4, Xbox and PC too, the game could no longer be considered "licensed by Nintendo". On top of that, the year 2023 was added, as TWDX released during that time.

Trip World DX
Trip World DX is a Game Boy Color exclusive, and thus, it has enhancements such as a specific color palette. Examples shown are the title screen and World 1.

On top of that, it has an additional screen that would be seen when one played the game on an original or Super Game Boy (note that the Game Boy Color is not mentioned by name, as this version of the game is not licensed by Nintendo). It remains unused in the Switch, PS4, Xbox One and PC versions, but it's possible with the cartridge copy.
