This game was stuffed away in a cardboard box and found 30 years later in a garage
This game was never completed and/or given a public release.
As a result of this, keep in mind that the developers might have used or deleted some of the content featured here, had the game actually been released.

This article is a work in progress.
...Well, all the articles here are, in a way. But this one moreso, and the article may contain incomplete information and editor's notes.
Notes: Need to dig a bit deeper for some more unused content. One of the leaked archives has a bunch of unused sound effects and voices, so I should look into that.
Careful, you'll lose an eye.
This page or section needs more images.
There's a whole lotta words here, but not enough pictures. Please fix this.
Specifically: Need more screenshots of the unused maps.

Jazz Jackrabbit 3D was to be Jazz's big break into the third dimension, and was planned to release on PC and PS2. The game was unfortunately cancelled in 2000 after Epic was unable to find a publisher for the game, however a prototype of the game (dated November 1999) eventually leaked onto the Internet in 2007.

System Console

Jazz3-systemconsole.png

A system console can be accessed at any point by pressing the Tilde (~) key. Many of the commands from Unreal can be used, however there are quite a handful that don't work. For example, you can't use the ghost command in this build to fly around the in-game maps, however you can load a .unr map file at any time with the command "open <mapname>".

Unused Maps

JBoardin

Jazz3-jboardin.png

One of the few surfboard stages. Very basic texturing and geometry for the stage itself, mainly having simple ice and snow textures, and, bizarrely, a chessboard texture.

surf

The same as JBoardin, but Jazz dies instantly upon spawning into the map.

JMPClover

Jazz3-jmpclover.png

A hub world, with simple grassy hills, multiple signs placed all over the map, and several spots to teleport to different maps. A sign can be found to the right of Jazz's spawn point at the map's center, saying:

JAZZ 3 DEMO : SELECT A LEVEL TO PLAY FOR THE
DEMO. THE VILLAGE IS INTENDED TO BE THE STARTING
PLACE FOR THE FULL GAME.

This map isn’t used in this build, however it is used in the earlier Jazz224 prototype.

JMPClover2

An earlier version of JMPClover. The map itself is near identical to JMPClover, however the only signs in the map now say:

JAZZ 3 DEMO : SELECT A LEVEL
TUTORIAL
CARROTUS VILLAGE

Entry

Jazz3-entry.png

A dark area with some stalagmites lining the walls, a small green hill, and a pool of water adjacent to the aforementioned hill. Unknown if this was a test level or an early intro map.

entryf

Jazz3-entryf.png

This map is just Entry, but with some Jazz bots and several items placed near the spawn point.

tomslevel

A very short map with a small forest-like area, and another small area inside a space ship.
