Test Map
To do:
|
A level for testing internally called TestNPCMap (ID 500) exists and can be accessed through save editing.
It features no visible decoration except for an extremely bright light source at the far front of the level, and the only collision is an invisible round platform the player can stand on and walk off of. Walking off of the map results in the player being teleported to the map's origin point.
The NPCs present all feature dialogue consisting of several text boxes of "......".
Some NPCs respond to certain different path actions according to the icons over their heads, but due to the level belonging to a dummy classification that defines its maximum reputation as "0", the player has a damaged reputation by default and cannot use any path actions.
Changing the time is disabled in this zone, despite the prompt still appearing.
It has no visible location on the map, and opening the map while in this area places the cursor in the center of the ocean.
Unused Abilities
To do: Find a way to access these abilities in-game. While they have defined stats and effects, it's important to know whether or not they actually function in the final game, and whether they have functioning visual effects. Likely requires direct modifications. |

The apothecary skill Empoison from Octopath Traveler exists in the game's text and code alongside the other apothecary skills, with the same effects as it had in the original game. The internal naming convention implies it was replaced in the list by the skill Replenish Health at some point in development.

A spell for cleric called Ethereal Healing that would apply a HP regeneration effect to the party exists in the game's text and code, alongside two progressively stronger variants, with internal naming convention implying these would be cast while under the effects of Advanced Magic or Alephan's Wisdom respectively (although Ethereal Healing lacks the flags required to allow the upgraded spells to replace it under those conditions). The ID also implies it was replaced in the list by the spell Sacred Shield at some point in development (which has the ID of ABN_CLE_063). The upgraded forms also cost more SP to cast, unlike any other spell in the final game (which tend to keep the same SP cost regardless of having Advanced Magic or Alephan's Wisdom active).

Upgraded versions of Temenos's Prayer for Plenty spell exist in the game's text and code, with internal naming convention implying these would be cast while under the effects of Advanced Magic or Alephan's Wisdom respectively. However, the original spell (listed for comparison) lacks the flags that allow these spells to be cast under those conditions, remaining un-upgraded while these effects are active. Note that unlike the original spell, the upgraded versions affect all party members. The upgraded forms also cost more SP to cast, unlike any other spell in the final game.

A battle transition between Agnea's "In Pursuit of Hope" theme and "For the Dawn" exists in the game's BGM, alongside the battle transitions for every other character. However, due to the structure of Agnea's final chapter, this particular one goes unused in-game.

PS_SPHere_KUS2A_1_Day_IT.png
A 4K-resolution screenshot of some Italian text from Castti's Chapter 2: Sai Route, located within a unique internal folder at Octopath_Traveler2/Content/UserInterface/SPHere. Considering the file's "PS" prefix and the visible button prompts, this may have been taken from one of the PlayStation versions. "KUS2A" refers to the chapter of the story: Castti is internally called "Kus", and 2A is the "Sai Route" of her story's Chapter 2.
