Launching in November 2013, the PlayStation 4 showed that Sony learned from the mistakes made by the PS3 (and their current competition by Microsoft), with the company instead focusing on showing off the power of their new console and how easy it is to develop games for it...and along the way made an entirely new mistake, by not fully participating in the cross-platform service between computers, the Xbox One, and the Nintendo Switch until a year after the feature was in the wild, which has led to some justified disdain for the platform by many players.

An upgraded version, the PS4 Pro, was launched in 2016, adding additional horsepower under the hood and enabling better support for 4k displays and Virtual Reality. As there are no games that require the PS4 Pro, this category will also cover that system.
