This article is a work in progress.
...Well, all the articles here are, in a way. But this one moreso, and the article may contain incomplete information and editor's notes.

Earth Defense Force 5 is the eighth game in the Earth Defense Force series of insect armageddon simulators, and is unrelated to Earth Defense Force on SNES. The game serves as a reboot of sorts, and as such Earth gets invaded by aliens for the first time...again.

Unused Music

Hmmm...
To do:
Upload relevant media files, find which folder specifically has EDF4.1's soundtrack

Within the game's sound and music files is Earth Defense Force 4.1's entire soundtrack. These music tracks are not used in-game in any way, and given that many sound files start with "TIKYUU4" ("地球4", or "Earth4"), it is highly likely they are leftovers from copying assets over from EDF4.1.

Oddly enough, some of the music files appear to be mislabeled, such as the Earth Eater track containing the Japanese version of Let's Go EDF!.

Regional Differences

Setting the game language to Japanese, English, Korean, or Chinese will make changes to the game's logo on the title screen. The Chinese logo is identical to the Japanese version, while the Korean version localizes the kanji into hangul. The English logo keeps the original kanji, but shrinks it while enlarging and modifying the English title.

Changing the game language also has the effect of slightly changing the alphanumeric typeface.
