The Chikyuu Bouei Gun is the first entry in what would later be known as the Earth Defense Force series (unrelated to Jaleco's 1991 shoot-'em-up).

Aliens raid over Japan, deploying giant insects and UFOs! It's your job to eradicate them and save the Earth! (Building demolition is permitted)

Unused Progressive Display Mode

Enabling the below code for the European version will force an unused progressive display mode. This appears to cause movies to hang, however there is a Skip Movies code listed below to remedy this.

Regional Differences

The European version removes all radio voices, without any effort to insert subtitles or dub the dialogue into English. This also applies to the game's sequel.
