Final Fantasy VII Remake may be the single most divisive remake of what may be the single most divisive game in RPG history. It's so divisive, people can't even decide if this can even be considered a remake due to certain liberties the game takes compared to the original, which is made even worse because this is actually part 1 of a three-part trilogy.

Later versions for PlayStation 5 and PC, titled Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade, were released in 2021. This version adds an extra DLC expansion titled "Episode INTERmission" starring Yuffie, a previously optional character in the original PS1 game. Naturally, this expansion was never added to the PS4 version.

The second part of the aforementioned trilogy, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, was released in 2024 for PS5.

Hmmm...
To do:
There's a lot of work to do, including pre-release differences and differences between the PS4, PS5 and PC versions.

Unused Playable Characters

Red XIII

Normally, Red XIII is an uncontrollable ally in your party. However, through save editing you can take control of a playable version of Red XIII.

His regular moves function normally, but he doesn't have any character-specific special abilities like the other playable characters. You also can't change his equipment due to him not showing up on the character menu.

Unused Models

Hmmm...
To do:
Make a subpage if we find more unused models.

Young Tseng

A unfinished model of a younger looking Tseng, this was intended to be used in a flashback cutscene where he meets with young Aerith.

Early Shinra Theme

In the demo files, the music bgm_ungd6_01_cut (Music/Section0) is a theme for Shinra used in a cutscene at the beggining of Chapter 10. This music was replaced with the standard Shinra theme in the final version.
