Thanks for greatly expanding the Hover! article. I've moved the prototype version info over to this page. Keep in mind that you should use the Proto namespace in the future when documenting prototypes. --From: divingkataetheweirdo (talk) 21:46, 1 August 2015 (EDT)

  • Thank you! I wasn't quite sure about how to design prototype documents, but now I do =) - Ray Koopa (talk) 02:46, 2 August 2015 (EDT)

User Rename

If you talk to one of the bureaucrats (Xkeeper, BMF54123, etc.), you can change your account name that way. --From: divingkataetheweirdo (talk) 03:42, 6 August 2015 (EDT)

  • Nice, I didn't know that's possible. I ask them if they can correct my two profiles and merge them into this new one somehow. - Ray Koopa (talk) 03:43, 6 August 2015 (EDT)

Hoover textures/sprites/skybox

Hello Ray Koopa! Thanks for the amazing remastering of the Hover music, and your contribution on the TCRF website on hoover!

I'm contacting you here with the hope that perhaps you can help me, as you are indeed my last hope, I'm afraid. I've been trying in vain to get image files for the textures, skyboxes, and sprites of Hover and from the article, you seem to have a way to obtain them, so would you be willing to share them somewhere perhaps, to be downloaded? Indeed, I want to use Hammer/the Source 2 engine in order to recreate these maps in VR, since it was (litteraly) a childhood dream of mines in the 90's to walk in these 3 maps (I have special interest for the skybox of City, if you had a png of it?)... but I just can't open these old Tex files... =(

Would you be so kind as to help me in this quest? I'd be infinitely thankful!

(I've tried to add this plea in the comments of your 3 Hover music videos on Youtube but I think youtube thought it was spam and deleted them, as they're not showing...)

We once wrote tools to extract MAZ and TEX files, check out https://hover.jpdeutschmann.de/. Inb4, he doesn't seem active since 9 years now, so I just offer you the unreleased documentation / tools here. It was originally intended for a very old remake (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B5jAw_y1jXk). - Ray Koopa (talk) 20:49, 7 April 2022 (UTC)
The problem is that when I use the "tex2bmp" software by double clicking on it, nothing happens, (a Windows command/console screen blinks for a second before disappearing and that's it) so maybe it only runs on certain Windows versions (I'm using Win 10), and the same goes when I select "open with" after double clicking on a Hover TEX file and selecting that software? What am I doing wrong? I tried to run the software in Vista and Win8 compatibility mode, but sadly to no avail... =c In any case, thanks for having taken the time to write the links here, I appreciate --SNOUPS4 (talk) 23:24, 8 April 2022 (UTC)
It's a command line app. You have to run it from a terminal and pass in the in and out file names, or at least create shortcuts to them with the arguments appended to the target. - Ray Koopa (talk) 00:38, 9 April 2022 (UTC)
It worked, great! First time I actually need to really use a command line app, so I learnt something here as well thanks to you :) If someone also unfamiliar with it stumbles upon this webpage and wonders also: After having put the application and TEX files in my "Documents" folder, I just had to type for example the following in the Microsoft command console: C:\Users\MYUSERNAME\Documents>tex2bmp text1.tex text1.bmp and then a bmp folder with the images in it was generated. You're my savior and someone awesome, Ray Koopa! Now I can start mapping at very long last... --SNOUPS4 (talk) 15:13, 9 April 2022 (UTC)
