Alex's Ring of Audacity

Alex's Ring of Audacity
Item Level 1
Finger
"Looks great, less filling."

This ring used to increase defense by 1,000; however, the defense statistic was removed from the game following 4.0.1. In addition to the defense being removed from this item, the flavor text was also altered.

Ring of Uber Resists (TEST)

Ring of Uber Resists (TEST)
Item Level 1
Binds when Equipped
Finger
+315 to All Resistances
Sell Price: 8s 37c

This ring was likely used to test the resistance system. In Patch 5.0.4 resistance statistics were removed from nearly every item, excluding this ring and a handful of other legacy items.

Talisman of Binding Shard

Talisman of Binding Shard
Item Level 80
Binds when picked up
Neck
+9 Strength
+3 Agility
+5 Stamina
+16 Fire Resistance
+16 Nature Resistance
Requires Level 60
Sell Price: 3g 36s 25c

This item was pretty much Blizzard's first shot at creating a legendary item. It dropped once on March 23rd, 2005, before being taken off of the loot tables the same day. However, Blizzard allowed the player who won it, Noktyn from the server Archimonde, to keep the item even though it had effectively been removed from the game. While the player who obtained it has moved on, it's still viewable albeit in a glitched state on an archived version of his armory page from 2016.

While the item used to have an on-equip effect, it has been removed. It used to be: "Equip: When struck in combat inflicts 4 Nature damage to the attacker."

When the item is equipped, the same effect as the Shaman class' Lightning Shield procs, though it seems to only be cosmetic.

Martin Fury

World of Warcraft-Martin Fury.png
Martin Fury
Item Level 1
Binds when picked up
Shirt
Use: The caster commits suicide, instantly killing themself.
100 Charges
Sell Price: 7c

Martin Fury was, like its weapon counterpart, changed in Patch 3.3 to a Poor quality item, had its stats stripped, and on-use effect changed.

The item was likely changed after an incident in which a Game Master accidentally sent a player Martin Fury using the in-game mail system, who then proceeded to send it to their guildmate, who then proceeded to use it to one-shot some of the hardest raid bosses available at the time. After this all was made public, the offending players had their accounts banned, and the items were nerfed the following game patch.
