Xenoblade Chronicles/Unused Audio/Cutscene Audio

From The Cutting Room Floor
Jump to navigation Jump to search

This is a sub-page of Xenoblade Chronicles/Unused Audio.

These are all unused lines that would have fit in unused or edited dialogue scenes. The more action-y cutscenes where dialogue automatically plays are stored in a different location in memory, and have the character voice lines, background music, and sound effects all baked into the same audio file.

Audio File name Character Speech Description Source
ahx.pkb_2609 Dunban "Hold the line! Take out the advancing Mechon!" Meant for the first battle, presumably before engaging the enemies. Robotortoise
ahx.pkb_2610 "Help the wounded! We'll take care of things here." Meant for sometime during the first battle.
ahx.pkb_2611 "There's hundreds of them! But we can handle it. Just take them out one by one." Meant for sometime during the first battle, as a sort of tutorial.
ahx.pkb_2612 "There's no end to them! Use your Arts to take them down!" Meant for sometime during the first battle, again, as part of a tutorial.
ahx.pkb_2613 "They're not match for the power of the Monado! The bigger they are, the harder they fall!" Meant for sometime during the first battle, likely after defeating a few enemies.
ahx.pkb_2614 "The Mechon M51!" Dunban calling out the enemy's name, again, as part of the first battle with the Mechon.
ahx.pkb_2615 "Ha! A Mechon M63!" Dunban calling out the Mechon's name, again, as part of the first battle.
ahx.pkb_2616 "This one's an M69!" Dunban calling out the Mechon's name, again, as part of the first battle.
ahx.pkb_2617 "Dickson! Mumkhar! Now's your chance! Get in close and take this thing down!" Dunban telling Dickson and Mumkhar to deal the final hit. Most likely would have been used when the Mechon was low on health.
ahx.pkb_2618 "Bring on the next one!" Dunban taunting the Mechon.
ahx.pkb_2619 "They just keep coming!" Dunban mildly upset about the influx of Mechon.
ahx.pkb_2735 and ahx.pkb_2736 Reyn "See? I told you Shulk wouldn't get a scratch!" One of four conversations seemingly intended for use in Tephra Cave on the quest to pick up the Ether Cylinders. This one is presumably for after Reyn did well during a battle. Robotortoise
Fiora "Don't go on about it..."
ahx.pkb_2737 and ahx.pkb_2738 Shulk "Looks like you're my guardian angel, Fiora!" Two of four conversations seemingly intended for use in Tephra Cave on the quest to pick up the Ether Cylinders. These two are presumably for after Fiora saves Shulk during a battle.
Fiora "Not 'looks like'. I am."
ahx.pkb_2741 and ahx.pkb_2742 Shulk "Fiora! It looks like you are my guardian angel!"
Fiora "Not 'looks like'. I am!"
ahx.pkb_2739 and ahx.pkb_2740 Fiora "What were you saying about Shulk not getting a scratch?" One of four conversations seemingly intended for use in Tephra Cave on the quest to pick up the Ether Cylinders. This one is presumably for after Shulk gets KO'd during a battle.
Reyn "I know...sorry."
ahx.pkb_2830 Shulk *grunt* These lines come just before the lines for the "Aftermath of the Mechon Attack" cutscene. The dialogue is very similar to the beginning of the start of the "Fiora's Death" cutscene, but that one is a "cinematic/action-y" cutscene unlike "Aftermath of the Mechon Attack." It's possible these lines indicate that "Fiora's Death" was originally meant to be a full "non-cinematic" cutscene, or that the beginning of it would have been a short "non-cinematic" one that led into a longer "cinematic" one. Kadoodles
ahx.pkb_2831 "The Monado... It's not working!"
ahx.pkb_2832 Reyn "Oi! What's going on?!"
ahx.pkb_2833 Dunban "Why? The Monado should cut through Mechon with ease."
ahx.pkb_3024 Imperial Guard *panting* Stored just before the line this High Entian guard says upon running into the room in the cutscene "The Divine Seer." When he does so, there's a noticeable pause before anyone reacts which definitely implies this line was meant to play. Why it was cut is unknown. Kadoodles
ahx.pkb_3054 Kallian "Presenting Nopon Frontier Village Chief Dunga." The only place where these could fit is when the 3 characters mentioned would arrive in the audience chamber. Laenthor
ahx.pkb_3055 "Presenting Homs Colony 6 representative Otharon."
ahx.pkb_3056 "Presenting Homs Colony 9 representative Dickson."
ahx.pkb_3057 Melia "Tyrea!" Despite being stored among lines for the Gaur Plains cutscenes, these audio files are all exact copies of lines used for the first half of the first cutscene of the "Melancholy Tyrea" sidequest. Why this was done, which of the copies are the ones used in game, and why Melia's and Sharla's lines were the only ones duplicated is unknown.

Also interesting is that ahx.pkb_3060 is a copy of a line that ended up being unused.
Kadoodles
ahx.pkb_3058 "What are you doing here?!"
ahx.pkb_3059 "You're hurt.
ahx.pkb_3060 "Tyrea!"
ahx.pkb_3061 "Tyrea, what happened?"
ahx.pkb_3062 Sharla "No. ...It looks like she just passed out."
ahx.pkb_3063 "Let's get her to the infirmary."
ahx.pkb_3064 "Reyn!"
ahx.pkb_3065 "Please."
ahx.pkb_3071 Shulk "So this is the Bionis' Knee. ...It's massive!" This line is placed just before the lines for the "Arrival at Gaur Plain" cutscene. Why it was cut is unknown. Kadoodles
ahx.pkb_3154 Juju *grunt* Among the lines for the "Sharla's Depressing Tale" cutscene, just after Reyn scolds Juju and he says he'll make dinner before escaping. Possibly cut because the start of Juju's line following this one has him already making a sort of grunting noise. Kadoodles
ahx.pkb_3205 Sharla "Colony 6 is at the base of the Bionis' Knee." Stored just before Sharla's first spoken line in the "I Can Fight, Too!" cutscene where she explains Juju's expected route. It's unclear why it was cut. Kadoodles
ahx.pkb_3324 Otharon "Tell me, how long ago was Juju taken?" These lines are located in the middle of the cutscene where you talk to Otharon for the first time. Since you can change the time however you want, this wasn't needed. Laenthor
ahx.pkb_3325 Sharla "Last night."
ahx.pkb_3326 Otharon "Then there's still time."
ahx.pkb_3399 Xord "Want some more, Monado moron?!" An alternate take of what Xord says at the start of the fight. There is no filter applied on it, unlike all of his other lines. Laenthor
ahx.pkb_3430 Shulk "Okay." Stored right before Shulk's final line of the "Riding the Freight Elevator" cutscene. It's unknown why it was cut. Kadoodles
ahx.pkb_3512 Dickson "It might sound like a walk in the park, but it's gonna be quite a hike. Are you lot ready?" This line is among the lines for the "Reunion of the Heroes" cutscene. The fact that Dickson's final spoken line of this cutscene, "Follow me," is stored just before this unused one implies that he was originally planned to say it earlier on and this line would follow. Kadoodles
ahx.pkb_3635 Shulk "Oh... Nothing." This audio file is a identical copy of ahx.pkb_3634 for the "Through the Inside of the Bionis" cutscene. It's unknown why this was done nor which of the two is the one used in game. Kadoodles
ahx.pkb_3637 Dunban "Hmm?" Despite the fact that this line is stored in the proper spot to respond to Shulk's line speculating whether the Bionis is dead or not during the "Through the Inside of the Bionis" cutscene, in game Dunban unexpectedly says "Huh?" instead. This is a reuse of audio file ahx.pkb_5694 (which plays during and is stored among the lines for a late-game cutscene where Miqol talks to the group) and it's unknown why this was done. Kadoodles
ahx.pkb_4052 Reyn "Why was she wearing a mask?" Stored just before the party's dialogue speculating about Melia's true identity in the "Lady Melia" cutscene lines. Perhaps implies Melia was originally going to enter Alcamoth ahead of the group and would have been wearing her royal disguise upon returning. Kadoodles
ahx.pkb_4161 Sharla "'Her Highness'? You mean Melia?" Stored just after Alvis' line referring to Melia as "Her Highness" during the cutscene "The Divine Seer." Presumably cut either for pacing or because it conflicts with the fact that the party had already heard a guard call her "Lady Melia" before. Kadoodles
ahx.pkb_4162 Dunban "It had crossed my mind, but she fooled us all."
ahx.pkb_4234 Shulk "That's Melia." This is stored after the final line of the cutscene "Before the Announcement." Likely originally meant to lead into the "cinematic" cutscene, and likely cut because it's a while before Melia actually shows up in said cutscene. Could also tie in with Reyn's earlier unused line referring to her wearing a mask: perhaps originally the party was meant to have seen her in her disguise before, but when that moment was cut this line also needed to be cut because Shulk wouldn't be able to recognize her. Kadoodles
ahx.pkb_4364 Lorithia "Alvis." Despite this file being stored among the lines for the High Entia Tomb cutscenes, the only cutscene where Lorithia talks to Alvis is "Ministerial Affairs," the lines for which are stored much later. Kadoodles
ahx.pkb_4432 Tyrea "A filthy homs half-breed has no right to the throne!" 2 duplicates of the line used when Tyrea confronts Melia in the tomb. For some reason they both have different filters. Laenthor
ahx.pkb_4442
ahx.pkb_4475 Shulk "Hi" Would have been used when entering the audience chamber to ask about passage to Prison Island. Laenthor
ahx.pkb_4536 Shulk "Him?" In the cutscene with Sorean and Shulk alone, but instead of using this line, Shulk gasps. Laenthor
ahx.pkb_4556 Sharla "What's happening?!" Despite being stored between the last file for the "Audience for the Emperor" cutscene and the first file for the "Deciding to Visit Melia" cutscene, this audio file is a duplicate of ahx.pkb_4393 which is used in the High Entia Tomb "Big Ball of... Something" cutscene. Which of the two is used in game is unknown. Kadoodles
ahx.pkb_4620 Shulk *gasp* It seems Shulk was always supposed to slightly gasp after seeing a new vision. This one is placed right before the Mechon attack on Prison Island. Laenthor
ahx.pkb_4630 Melia, or possibly Sharla *gasp* These lines are stored among the files for "The Imperial Villa" cutscene. In the scene two different mutual gasps happen, but each time only two audio files play simultaneously, leaving the rest of the gasps unused. These were probably cut because playing too many voice lines at the same time would have ended up being too loud.

As the entire group is in the scene and because the audio for these lines is just gasping, it's hard to know for certain which take belongs to which character. Also, because the dialogue that plays between the two sets of gasps is stored much earlier, all of the gasping lines are back-to-back making it difficult to know which of the unused ones were meant for which round of gasping.
Kadoodles
ahx.pkb_4631 Sharla, or possibly Melia *gasp*
ahx.pkb_4632 Shulk, or possibly either Reyn or Dunban *gasp*
ahx.pkb_4635 Dunban, or possibly either Shulk or Reyn *gasp*
ahx.pkb_4637 Melia, or possibly Sharla *gasp*
ahx.pkb_4638 Shulk, or possibly either Reyn or Dunban *gasp*
ahx.pkb_4696 Reyn "Prison Island, at last." The first two lines are stored before the first spoken line in the cutscene "Big Fish Coming!", while the third one comes after the last spoken line of the cutscene. Why these were cut is unknown. Kadoodles
ahx.pkb_4697 Sharla "Look! At the top!"
ahx.pkb_4700 Shulk "He's right."
ahx.pkb_4993 Dunban "So the Melia at the speech was a double?" Stored just after Riki's line saying the person wearing Melia's disguise smells different than Melia in the cutscene "Two Melias." It's unclear why it was cut. Kadoodles
ahx.pkb_5021 Kallian "Leave the allied force to me." The file that combines these 2 clips is the one that's used. Laenthor
ahx.pkb_5022 "I am not known for my diplomacy, but call it pride. I shall succeed!"
ahx.pkb_5112 Dunban "Huh..." In the files for the cutscene in Ose tower with Shulk and Alvis. Dunban stays silent at the end. Laenthor
ahx.pkb_5150 Alvis "Precisely on schedule." At the beginning of the scene where the group spots Dickson's supply ship. Laenthor
ahx.pkb_5208 Shulk "Look at that." These lines would've been used right before the party spots an entrance to the other side of Galahad Fortress. Laenthor
ahx.pkb_5209 "It's..."
ahx.pkb_5210 Dunban "The Mechonis!"
ahx.pkb_5211 Melia "It looks rather foreboding."
ahx.pkb_5240 Lorethia "Hmm." This line is in the middle of the scene where Lorethia and Alvis are discussing ether spears. There is no reverb effect. Laenthor
ahx.pkb_5291 Sharla "Mechon! So many of them." Is supposed to play in the faced Mechon storage area, before the Fiora encounter. Laenthor
ahx.pkb_5292 Shulk "Wait."
ahx.pkb_5293 "They're... not operational."
ahx.pkb_5296 Shulk *gasp* Supposed to be used for his gasp when the alarm goes off in the "Lots of Face Mechon!" cutscene, but for some reason the audio file ahx.pkb_6499 (which plays during and is stored among the lines for a late-game Prison Island cutscene) is used there instead. Audio file: Laenthor

Description: Kadoodles
ahx.pkb_5298 Shulk "Fiora. We've come for you... Let's go home." These lines are stored at the end of the audio files for the "Lots of Face Mechon!" cutscene. These were probably cut for pacing. Kadoodles
ahx.pkb_5299 "Fiora!"
ahx.pkb_5300 Reyn "Oi! She don't look right!"
ahx.pkb_5301 Shulk "Aaah!" It seems a planned event for the scene after the first encounter with Fiora was cut, probably because they couldn't actually animate it in this cutscene where the characters use their gameplay animations. Fiora would've attacked Shulk, and the others would've tried to help him out, then Dunban tells everyone to retreat. In the final version, Fiora doesn't move and the group leaves. Laenthor
ahx.pkb_5305 Melia "Reyn! Dunban! We have to help!"
ahx.pkb_5306 Dunban "Rha! This isn't fair! Get in there! Help him!"
ahx.pkb_5325 Dickson "Hmph!" Another grunt that goes unused. Laenthor
ahx.pkb_5328 Sharla "Is it just me, or did we suddenly become Nopon mercenaries?" Despite being stored among the Fallen Arm cutscene lines, this audio file is a identical copy of ahx.pkb_3848, which is used in the "Equipment for the Heropon" cutscene. It's unknown why this was done nor which of the two is the one used in game. Kadoodles
ahx.pkb_5379 Fiora "Shulk, are you okay?" Was supposed to be used right before Shulk alone gets ambushed by Mechon drones. Laenthor
ahx.pkb_5380 Shulk "Let's worry about you first. I'm fine."
ahx.pkb_5382 Fiora "Shulk"
ahx.pkb_5440 Shulk "AAahh..." First line that could have played when Reyn and Sharla find Shulk. Laenthor
ahx.pkb_5498 Riki "There a lake over there. Lake have fishies!" In the cutscene audio for the dialogue between Dunban and Riki on the Fallen Arm. Laenthor
ahx.pkb_5589 Reyn "It's pretty dark in here. AAARG!" Missing event in the cutscene where you meet Miqol for the first time. His first line would've made a bit more sense that way. Laenthor
ahx.pkb_5590 "Man that hurts! What idiot would just leave a cable laying around like that?"
ahx.pkb_5592 Miqol "Sorry about that my Bionis guests. I forgot! You can't see in the dark!"
ahx.pkb_5596 Reyn "You turned off the lights to get me? That ain't funny!"
ahx.pkb_5833 Shulk *gasp* Stored just before Shulk calls out Fiora's name in the cutscene "The Right Path." It's unclear why it was cut. Kadoodles
ahx.pkb_5984 Shulk "Has it been fossilized?" Unused, but could've fit in the conversation in the Mechonis capital. Laenthor
ahx.pkb_6036 Reyn "Aaargh!" Near the start of the cutscene after the first encounter with Gadolt. Laenthor
ahx.pkb_6037 Shulk "Reyn, get it together."
ahx.pkb_6121 Fiora "There is still time." During the cutscene "Foreshadowing of Betrayal," Meyneth speaks the same dialogue in these lines. It appears Fiora was originally meant to speak alongside Meyneth in this scene, but in the final game only Meyneth's lines can be heard. Kadoodles
ahx.pkb_6125 "Mechonis and I exist as one."
ahx.pkb_6126 "Egil is using ether energy absorbed from the Bionis to force it to move."
ahx.pkb_6127 "There is still time before the Mechonis fully adapts to the ether."
ahx.pkb_6144 Shulk *gasp* When Shulk notices Fiora's Monado (the triangle chestpiece) glowing, he doesn't say anything in the final game. Laenthor
ahx.pkb_6145 "Fiora"
ahx.pkb_6152 Fiora "The Mechonis! ...It's moving!" Stored just after Reyn's line pointing out the Mechonis' movement in the cutscene "Foreshadowing of Betrayal." Why Fiora's line was cut is unknown. Kadoodles
ahx.pkb_6230 Shulk "This... machine. ...Is this—?" This group of audio files is stored between the lines for the cutscenes "Shulk's Intuition" and "Even More Power." The party has not yet reached the Apocrypha Generator in the former and has just defeated it in the latter, so it appears these lines were meant to for a separate, scrapped cutscene. Kadoodles
ahx.pkb_6231 Vanea "Yes. The Apocrypha Generator."
ahx.pkb_6232 Reyn "Yeah. Let's trash the thing!"
ahx.pkb_6233 "Take this out and it's plain sailing for Shulk."
ahx.pkb_6234 Vanea "It should be."
ahx.pkb_6235 "It's a miracle that you have been able to use the Monado at all."
ahx.pkb_6236 Reyn "Hear that?"
ahx.pkb_6237 Shulk *grunt*
ahx.pkb_6238 Melia "Are you really alright?"
ahx.pkb_6239 Shulk "Ye-Yeah. I'm... fine."
ahx.pkb_6240 "Vanea, we need to find Egil."
ahx.pkb_6241 Vanea "The control core is directly above. It is not far."
ahx.pkb_6368 Dunban "You know the drill. Take them down!" This file is an exact copy of the audio from the file before it, ahx.pkb_6367. Why this was done is unknown, as is which of the two is the one used in game. Kadoodles
ahx.pkb_6430 Fiora *sigh* "It's... so peaceful." These lines are duplicate audio files for some of the lines from the cutscene "Calm Before the Storm" and are stored after the lines for the cutscene that follows it. It's unclear why this was done, which of the copies is used in game, and why only some of the lines were duplicated. Kadoodles
ahx.pkb_6431 "It's hard to believe that we defeated a horde of Telethia just minutes ago."
ahx.pkb_6432 Shulk "Zanza wants to finish us all... so he can make the vision he's had come true."
ahx.pkb_6433 "We're in the calm before the storm"
ahx.pkb_6434 "I won't let that happen."
ahx.pkb_6435 "Whatever the future holds... we can never give in. Not to Zanza... no, not even to our destiny."
ahx.pkb_6436 Fiora "Does this world belong to us or to Zanza?"
ahx.pkb_6437 "Why would he side with Zanza?"
ahx.pkb_6438 "Power? ...Or maybe he wants to live forever."
ahx.pkb_6439 Shulk "Who knows."
ahx.pkb_6440 "But I don't think his motives are that simple. I'm sure Alvis has some kind of plan."
ahx.pkb_6441 ""Otherwise... why would he speak to me in my dreams?"
ahx.pkb_6442 "Oh, that's right. Linada's looking for you."
ahx.pkb_6443 "She wants to examine you. She's back at Junks."
ahx.pkb_6444 Fiora "Oh."
ahx.pkb_6445 "Hey, um... Can you go ahead? I'll go and see Linada in a minute."
ahx.pkb_6446 "I need a few minutes to myself."
ahx.pkb_6447 "What can I do?"
ahx.pkb_6448 "If I go to see Linada she'll find out what's happening to my body."
ahx.pkb_6449 *sigh* "I need to come up with a good excuse."
ahx.pkb_6538 Melia "Tyrea!" Melia only calls Tyrea's name out loud like this once, and the next file is where she does. Laenthor
