This page is rather stubbly and could use some expansion. Are you a bad enough dude to rescue this article? |

BlazBlue: Continuum Shift is the second in a fighting game series from the makers of Guilty Gear. It would later proceed to get two further revisions, with the latter (Continuum Shift: Extend) released as a standalone game.
"Tubaki Yayoi"
Present in the game's files, mainly the images for character name graphics from places like the selection screens, is a file for "Tubaki Yayoi" (a misspelling of Tsubaki Yayoi, a character normally present in-game). The odd name is a common mistake Japanese people make when romanizing the "tsu" sound, due to using an outdated transliteration method.
Tubaki's select art seems to be the head of Noel's story art with empty eyes pasted on Nu's Calamity Trigger art. She is most likely a placeholder for the character Mu-12, considering her crest is the same, her win screen crest is crudely handwritten Japanese for "MURAKUMO" (ムラクモ), and her in-game sprite (and only sprite) is a static Nu recolor with "MU" scribbled on it. To compound these facts, all of her internal references use the suffix of "mu". She appears to have been a very early omission, as the character select nametag uses the font from Calamity Trigger and she uses Ragna's voice and win quotes, lacking any audio of her own.
Mu-12 would eventually be fleshed out as a proper character in console ports, but even then, "Tubaki" still exists on the disc as leftover from the original arcade release.
Unused Graphics
To do: There could be more unused graphics. |
A placeholder character sprite is a leftover in one of Makoto Nanaya's sprite banks.
Unused Music
Labelled "Impulse" by the game's Gallery function, this is a leftover from Calamity Trigger...where it also went unused. It was intended to be used during Astral Finishes, and was likely cut due to how short it is and hence being incompatible with characters sporting longer, more cinematic finishers (such as Tager, Nu, and Bang).
