The Interactive Multi-Game Demo Disc October 2001 was the first in a series of kiosk discs produced by Nintendo. This particular disc contains three demos with time limits: Luigi's Mansion, Wave Race: Blue Storm, and Star Wars: Rogue Squadron II.
Oh, and essentially the entire game of Luigi's Mansion is on the disc. You can even modify a text file on the disc to give yourself infinite time and enable saving. Nothing can stop you and your vacuum cleaner now!

thank many many people!!!!!!!!
According to history.txt, this is also a dummy file whose sole purpose is to take up extra space.

| ...But what does it mean? This game has text or audio that needs to be translated. If you are fluent with this language, please read our translation guidelines and then submit a translation! |
In history.txt, there is what appears to be a change log for the demo disc:

Modifiable Data Files
contents.txt
In contents.txt, you can modify pretty much everything in the demo disc, as the disc uses strings of text from this file to hold data for the demo disc instead of using the code itself. This includes ESRB ratings for games, the timer until it kicks you back to the main menu, what file to use for the box art, what file to use for the demo executable, whether memory cards are enabled or not (which is completely turned off in the demo for obvious reasons), and other things that we wouldn't know how to modify without looking into the code of the disc itself. This was likely made to make creating future demo discs easier. Here is what contents.txt contains in its original, unmodified form:
# tag folder tgc_filename screenshot memcard timer forcereset rating <GAME> z_luigi Luigi.tgc package_luigi.tpl OFF 20 ON EVERYONE <GAME> zz_wave wr0925kus.tgc package_waverace.tpl OFF 15 ON EVERYONE <GAME> zz_starwars Rogue2.kd.tgc package_starwars.tpl OFF 15 ON TEEN <MOVIE> aa_movie_yluigi movie_luigi1001.tgc luigi_anim.tpl OFF 1 OFF EVERYONE <MOVIE> aa_movie_wave waverace_R.tgc waverace_anim.tpl OFF 1 OFF EVERYONE <MOVIE> aa_movie_starwars Rogue2.kv.tgc starwars_anim.tpl OFF 1 OFF TEEN <MOVIE> aa_movie_smash movie_smash1001.tgc smash_anim.tpl OFF 1 OFF TEEN <MOVIE> aa_movie_pikmin movie_pikmin1001.tgc pikmin_anim.tpl OFF 1 OFF EVERYONE <MOVIE> aa_movie_aNBA bball.tgc kobe_anim.tpl OFF 1 OFF EVERYONE <MANUAL> ON <PURPOSE> sales-promotion # <TIMER> 1 <TIMER> 30 <START_TIMING> MUSIC_END <END>
art.txt
Similar to contents.txt, but more focused on the menu that sends you to the games. It contains data for what graphics to use for the background, coordinates for a whole bunch of things, and more. Also similarly to contents.txt, this was likely made to make creating future demo discs easier.

boot.dol
Contains quite a bit of text that goes unused, intended for retail discs. It also contains a build date:
Dolphin OS $Revision: 46 $. Kernel built : %s %s Sep 24 2001 17:4
Hidden Credit Reel
Found in aaa_special.tgc is a credit reel put together for those who helped work on the disc. This is the only version that has this special movie.
Unused Graphics
cube.tpl

This is the first occurrence of cube.tpl, which would end up in the rest of the game's discs.
gamecube_s.tpl

A GameCube with a controller upon a white background.
