Hmmm...
To do:
Document the PAL March 2002 disc and compare differences between each other, video can be found here.

The Interactive Multi-Game Demo Disc October 2001 was the first in a series of kiosk discs produced by Nintendo. This particular disc contains three demos with time limits: Luigi's Mansion, Wave Race: Blue Storm, and Star Wars: Rogue Squadron II.

Oh, and essentially the entire game of Luigi's Mansion is on the disc. You can even modify a text file on the disc to give yourself infinite time and enable saving. Nothing can stop you and your vacuum cleaner now!

Unused Text

Hidden Message

Present in ________________.ird, which ended up starting a trend in later demo discs:

thank many many people!!!!!!!!

According to history.txt, this is also a dummy file whose sole purpose is to take up extra space.

history.txt

Cacti speak Japanese.
...But what does it mean?
This game has text or audio that needs to be translated. If you are fluent with this language, please read our translation guidelines and then submit a translation!

In history.txt, there is what appears to be a change log for the demo disc. This seems to indicate that the disc was being worked on as early as September 27, 2001, and as late as October 3, 2001.

Configuration Files

contents.txt

Hmmm...
To do:
Figure out if the <PURPOSE> function does anything. Could it possibly be changed to something else?

This file allows you to modify pretty much everything in the demo disc, as the disc uses strings of text from this file to determine a lot of things, such as what ESRB rating each game has, the length of the reset timer, what file to use for the box art, what file to use for the demo executable, and whether memory cards are enabled or not (which is completely turned off here for obvious reasons). This was likely made to make creating future demo discs easier.

Similar to contents.txt, but more focused on the menu that sends you to the games. It allows you to configure what graphics are used for the background, the coordinates for a whole bunch of things, and more.

Hidden Credit Reel

Found in aaa_special.tgc is a credit reel put together for those who helped work on the disc. This is the only version that has this special movie.
