Anti-Piracy

Text for these anti-piracy screens exist, but goes unused as no anti-piracy programming has been found. Game Genie codes DBFE-B35C will replace the next message screen to the irregularity screen, and DCFE-B35C will replace the next message screen to the anti-piracy screen (the easiest way to jump to a message screen is to play the game on a PAL console, which will replace the region error with one of the two messages).

Also present at $00808D are these two strings:

rArEwArE
!PIRATE!

These strings would be used to handle a false positive scenario when searching the contents of the stack and RAM looking for unauthorized devices (more info on the Donkey Kong Country 2 page). Again, there are no programming that loads them. It is presumed that anti-piracy methods were originally intended to be implemented, but was removed late in development.
