This is a sub-page of Proto:Gran Turismo 6.

By looking through the game's files, some unused graphics can be found within.

Event Placeholder Flyers

Five dummy images that were used for testing the display of flyer images for in-game events can be found.

Course Logo Placeholder

GTA2013 course logo s no image.png

This small graphic with a filename of "no_image" might have been used if a course did not have the appropriate logo asset produced for it yet.

Early Silverstone Course Thumbnails

While assets for all of the courses can be found in the game's files that resemble the final game's course thumbnails, there exist thumbnails of all the Silverstone courses in the game that were produced in the same size and style for Gran Turismo 5. The course might have been well in development since the Gran Turismo 5 codebase and a running prototype of the course may have been produced at the time. The thumbnails for the International and National layouts might tell the tale due to having little to no lighting and having a plain gray skybox.

Loading Background Images

Assets for loading background images that would be displayed when the game is loading a race/course (first introduced in Gran Turismo 5 V2.00) can be found in the game's files, even some that depict the latter's hidden courses that didn't carry over into the final retail build of this game. These are just the preview images of the course thumbnails in their original size, but of all things to note about these images, they're all in the JPEG format. All of the courses that were featured in the final retail build of Gran Turismo 6 have both a JPEG and a native image format asset produced for them here in this build, but the hidden courses from Gran Turismo 5 only have a JPEG asset (with one exception).

There are a few noteworthy things:

  • Because of the high resolution of these images, it is possible to get a closer, more detailed look at missing courses from the franchise such as Piazza del Campo and the scrapped Matterhorn off-road layout.
  • The old renditions of the Silverstone circuits can be found here. The final assets, those being the ones used in the final retail build of the game, are also present in the game's native image format, so the JPEGs here are leftovers.
  • The "matterhorn_c" layout has a different image than the one used in the final. It is the only image that is not a JPEG asset.
  • Apricot Hill Raceway had not been updated yet at the time this build was compiled, according to these assets.
